You've got a pair of beauties there. Nice score on both of them! I particularly like the one on the bottom.

Actually I'd say the only thing better is owning a real '59.:AOK

Nice guitars. I like how the tops look like they're not perfectly symmetric.

Hey Fretmaster, I'm thinking about adding WCR's and the RS wiring/pots/cap upgrade to my lester, any thought on how it changed the guitar's tone? Thanks.

SICK guitars Fretmaster :dude :dude :dude :dude :dude ( Thats a 5 headbang rating)

I can't speak for Fretmaster - but replacing my stock pups in my Standard with WCR Goodwoods and the RS kit has proved to be just astounding in terms of tone improvement and tone and volume control. I'm a believer.

Those are 2 DISGUSTINGLY BEAUTIFUL GUITARS!

I was already on record as saying your first was one of the finest looking, newer bursts I've ever seen.

Fretmaster--Congrats, great looking gits! (I mean no disrespect) but are you gonna get some Uncle Lou tuner buttons, or maybe the RS aged Klusons (all way less green looking).

Thanks guys! I love them both. The Tea burst is gorgeous and I would have to admit it's my favorite too. But in all fairness to the brockburst on top...the picture angle really doesn't do it justice. The figuring is very tasteful and the fade is very pretty. I love the WCR pickups. They really do add a another dimension to the tone and feel of an already incredible instrument. BTW...they are both very light!! Barely 8 1/2 pounds each! That's the part I REALLY like. LOL I put on a buddy of mine's LP custom the other day and when I put the R9 back on it felt like basswood in comparison. And my back was thanking me!! I guess I really am getting old.

I was just digging through some old threads and found this so I thought I'd make a several month follow-up comment. I've owned a LOT of guitars, amps, cabinets, etc, etc, etc over the last three decades or so of playing guitar but I have to say no single piece of gear has ever affected me so strongly as since picking up my first Historic R9. I've been an LP player since the early 70's and still there is just something special about the feel and sound of both these guitars. To anyone who has not yet had the experience I highly recommend at least playing one. But only if you can buy one!! Otherwise you will never be completely happy again. ;)

Seriously... you suck! LOL Man, I'd LOVE to be in a position to get either of those! All I could afford was a 2002 production LP. But I got a good one, I think. With the RS kit, is sounds really great. But still... you suck!

Really, those are so beautiful! I am really envious!

Fret,

The R9's are the bomb, but you have to try one of these

The Florentines from 95-96 era are my latest tone discovery.

Awe C'mon guys, I want some R9 love too!

I started out looking at R7's and R8's, and this one had enough more to offer in tone, sustain, ring, vibe, that I pulled the trigger on the extra dinero.

I think the reverse chevron top is pretty unique and cool too, and I love the Teaburst:

So what will the WCR's and the wiring change do for this guitar? It rocks stock as is. Will I love it more with the WCR's?

Cheers,

paul

Beautiful axe my friend. IMHO..the WCR's and RS upgrades make the package complete. You will truly hear and feel those tones you've always admired and dreamed about. This is all subjective of course. ;)
