I've been wanting to record this for a while, and since the acquisition of a Nashville Tele (Suhr), it's been possible. I'd love to have put more time into it; or better yet, to have written it, but it is what it is. Hope you enjoy. Also this is for all those who've been bashed around a little this week--or even if you haven't... Keep on. ;)
Beware of Darkness (http://www.priestunes.com/audio/Beware_of_Darkness.mp3)... now complete (final verse added).

I posted, in part, because of a certain amp thread that I thought was pretty ugly and unkind... and clearly inaccurate. :)

That's a lovely take on a very profound song. After viewing the Concert for Bangla Desh DVD, I had to learn it too.
Just curious: why didn't you record the ever-relevant "beware of greedy leaders" verse? Or is this bordering on the forbidden topic of politics?

Just curious: why didn't you record the ever-relevant "beware of greedy leaders" verse? Or is this bordering on the forbidden topic of politics? Gracias! That DVD is my first exposure to it too. I wondered where I had been for having missed such a number!
My recording approach was piecemeal, and ended the first track way too early. I hadn't thought of the politics/TGP connection. That's kind of peculiar, eh? I'll fix it tonight, though, since that verse is crucial to the whole spell...

peace and oh yea BUMP!! Bump.... ha ha. That's how a linear world work, aye? The acoustic is my wedding present: a jumbo D55 Guild. I was just practicing and rolled ADAT on the Tele. When finished, I noticed I'd chopped a verse off and decided not to worry about it. Then I recorded the solo at the end, then the vox, then added the Guild. But in terms of gear, a Behringer tube preamp ($35.00!), a Neumann TLM 103, and transfered to Digital Performer. One of these days, Sub-D, I'll have both the time and the gear to really do it right. I was reading the liner notes to an extended Blind Faith CD release, and some of the tunes had twenty, thirty, and more takes. Not uncommon, I guess. This was take one.

hey, yer the guy with the Lollar SG, right? Lollar's site picture of that instrument is often my desktop picture. I'm determined to make that my next guitar. If you're ever inclined, I'd like to hear some clips of your Lollar.

will do.:BEER (these guys make me thirsty)
Actually in the process of figuring out what to get for some simple home recording(and clippage). Been learning all kinds of new 'digital' words, lol! Decided my 1970 sony 4 trak is too cumbersome to mess with.
