hello-

my new low output bridge humbucker seems to like .009's better than it did my .010's.

Better note definition.

Unplugged, the guitar is now much more twangy (Strat) with the 009's.

I 'm going to need to stay with the 009's for a while because of a pinky problem, plus the fact that in my old age seems my nail painfully separates from my finger after alot of bending, I changed down to 009-042 strings.

Most curious about the physics of it all, the better clarity I'm hearing..

thanks

It could be the way the guitar is set up or some other factor like the particular PU's .To my ear it has always surprised me at how much better a step up in gauge sounds.I use 11's on most of my guitars and 12's on some.

I like em a little heavier too. For me the problem with lighter strings is on the picking side of the street. They seem to give too easily.

indeed the virtues of the heavy strings...
I will miss them.
Not an option for me, as stated in my original post.

I understand the old age thing. It's the joints with me not the nails.I gues I'll never be a shredder and happy of it.
