View Full Version : is micro-tilt crucial?

conncected to my post earlier about hwy1 finishes, i noticed the hwy1 bodies don't have micro-tilt on them. my '93 tele body does buy i never did anything with it. just curious how useful it is to have, or if i could get away without it.

I prefer guitars *without* the micro-tilt. Straight wood-on-wood is preferred in the neck pocket. If the neck needs an angle adjustment, it is better achieved with a shim, but is not usually necessary IME.

...two ways of adjusting effective neck "tilt": (a) shim the neck; or, (b) raise the bridge saddle(s).

+1. You don't want air in the neck pocket. Micro-tilt is only necessary if the guitar is poorly designed.
