Besides an Epiphone Casino. What else is out there?

Epi Elitist Sheraton has minibuckers -- they are a direct replacement for soapbars.

...P90's are single-coil and minibuckers are small humbuckers.

I have a 335 style Hamer that I put Harmonic Design Z-90s in.

For $575 (4 for the git, 175 for the pups) I have a schweet P-90 equipped ax. Probably have to schwap out the innards at some point, but it's cool for now.

Yamaha TVL is a real fine guitar.

Another vote for the ES-330. The important thing to remember is an ES-330 is a full hollowbody guitar. It does not have the centre block like the ES-335. The neck also meets the body at the 15th fret not the 19th fret like the ES-335.

If you want those features of an ES-335 you could always put Lindy Fralin P92s, Harmonic Design Z90 or Seymour Duncan Phat Cat pickups in one!

Wow, that Hamer Newport 90 is fantastic looking! I haven't played a Newport in years and that one really has me GAS'ing bad. Hmmm...I may have to do some gear swapping/selling now. Anybody know offhand what the street price is on the Newport 90 offhand? Used estimates?

Speaking of the ES-330 I came across this vid today whilst looking for something totally unrelated. Definitely sounds fantastic (hell, The Edge could probably make a cardboard box sound good):

Wow! That's a real beauty!

I've been gassing for a 335 style guitar and that Yammy does it for me. I'm going to have to check one of those things out.:AOK

Is it semi hollow or completely hollow?

My brother in law used to have an ES-330 fromt eh 60s that was entrusted to my care for a while. It had rich, jangley tones for clean playing, and it absolutely ROARED in a dirty amp! Feedback could be bitch though.

Damn, I wish I still had that guitar....

Keep in mind there is a HUGE difference between something like the Casino or the ES-125s vs the 335s. The former guitars are completely hollow and the latter one has a solid block running the full length of the body. This makes for an entirely different sounding instrument IMO.

My hollow P-90 guitar of choice is this one...

Ditto with a PRS McCarty HB1........yes, I know its a bit of a different beast as it doesn't have the center block, but I've heard it ROAR with the HD's and the Seymour full size P90's......oh yeah baby!

+1If you can find a 330 in good condition, they're really great.

Hi Guys.

I was of the impression that all the 335 type guitars including Casino and Sheraton were semi-hollow bodies.
Could you provide any more info/links about the differences in the actual build of these guitars.

Thanks

I can't provide links but I have some observations. Keep in mind epiphone and gibson were competitors for a while and weren't owned under the same corporation. That said, the Casino and the ES 330 are for all intents and purposes the same guitar. Both are fully hollow, connect to the neck at the 15 fret rather than 19, and have P90's. The 335 looks similar but there is a slight difference in appearance due to the different neck connection. As far as construction it also has a solid block running through the guitar front to back and humbuckers.

The current incarnation of the sheraton is like a poor mans 335 same basic specs, workmanship and quality not so much. I don't know much about the original sheratons though, other than they had minihumbuckers, as has been mentioned earlier. I'm sure they were of better quality than current ones but I don't know how they related to the 335.
