Anyone own one or has played one?
Reportedly, a very nice neck profile (for me!) not the thin profile most 335's have.
Any info would be appreciated!

I have a Historic 63 block. Mine has the thin profile.
Fit and finish are great, and the thing sounds like heaven!
Damn expensive (especially new) but worth the bucks IMHO.

Agreed. I love 335's, but that thin profile has always bugged me.
I think the axe I am referring to is a special run for GC. I guess no one really knows anything about 'em!

Gibson opened up a plant in Memphis in the last 6 or so years. I'm not sure of the date. They've made various different models. I toured the plant there about 6 years ago and they were making the non LP solid bodies there for a while (SG, Explorer, Flying V, etc.).
Now the Memphis plant is a branch of the custom shop and they make most of the laminated archtop guitars there. ES-335s, ES-175s, etc.

I own a '59 Historic ES-335. Neck shape is perfect. Not to big, not too thin...

Thanks for the info guys. I think the Memphis '59 reissue at MF costs considerably less than an Historic 335.

I have 1998 ES-335 59 Re-Issue. It has the same exact neck as my 1999 Les Paul 59 Re-Issue. Which is a very comfy - full round neck.
Very Nice Guitar! considerably nicer than any recent 335 I've played.

Good info - didn't know that Gibson had re-issued the '59 before. The LP profile is exactly what I'd like.

I have 2 brand new guitars from the Memphis Custom Shop, a cherry 355 and a natural '63 Historic 335.
The 355 have what they call ES carve, which to me is pretty mainstream, almost like a PRS' wide fat, maybe a very little bit smaller. One of the best carves I've played.
The 335 has the slimmer 60's carve, which has nothing to do with Les Paul Classic's slim carve. It's a much fatter than that. It's not slim. It's actually a regular C carve, less meat then the 355s, but still confortable. It's a fast neck, but not thin at all.
BTW, both are amazing guitars!
