I have really been trying to throw some model playing into my solo's lately , and wanted to know if there is anything out there were I can practice soloing over lets say a jam that has chords that would fit with the Lydian Mode? I basically want to start hearing what chords work with what mode. I am getting a pretty good understanding, of it thru time, but I think something like this would really help. Thanks

Here's acouple of things I did on the Lydian mode...
This deals with nice/common chords (progressions) people use to flesh out the Lydian sound common to rock/progressive music:

This deals with pentatonicizing the Lydian (modes in general) to add space to the notes and not make it sound like you're running up and down a scale so much:

Hope this help, I think they will for understanding some of the lure of the Lydian mode on it's own.

Frank Gambale's video on Modes is great!! He has a good book on improvisation that may be a help too....
Lydian....the Steve Vai mode.....
Good luck...

There are plenty out there if you do a search. One off the top of my head is www.jamtracks.com
Can't ever count out Under The Groove
http://www.underthegroove.com/
his tracks are high quality and not all ghettoized with some lame bass lines, cornball drum beats, cheesy arrangements
About the best I've seen

Band in the Pocket CD's are available at GC. They're pretty good.

Stand Alone Tracks from Alfred Publishing had a disc that had jam tracks for each mode. I say had because I can't find it on Alfred's web site. The Alfred CD catalog number is 14186. Maybe you can find it at a local music store. I think I got mine at Sam Ash in Miami.
I usually make my own with Band In A Box - the quality depends on whether or not you've got a good sound module, but you do get loads of control over each track.
Will Ray has 2 CD backing (jam) tracks on the Hellecasters web site.

I have both and they work great for me.
The Kawai GB units are great and they have sound cards you can buy too.

check out www.riffinteractive.com
They did a lesson on modes and there are probably back tracks there.
