View Full Version : Glaswerks 80's voicing - Better tone!
Here's a new version with much improved tone (imo). At the end of the track, there is just some guitar so you can hear the tone.

Scott and Gary gave me a few suggestions...

Great playing wonderful tone.
Hey les thanks for posting the setting again for the 80's tone in your last post. Did you change anything in this one?
This one is brighter the last one was pretty dark and maybe a bit smoother but that could be the lack of treble. Did you use the same guitar ans settings? Listening to these lips and trying them out is very helpful. Thanks.

Yeah, a lot of settings changed for this take:
Bright: off
Shift: center
Voice: down
Fat: down
OD Trim: down
OD Stack: down
Feeback: up
Suppressor: up
Gain: 7
Treble: 7.5
Middle: 7
Bass: 6.5
Master: 3
Drive 3
Level: 4
Reverb: 3
Presence: 8
Mid Boost: off
Boost: off
OD: on
Guitar: 64 335 (neck pickup)
So, based upon your comment, I just the next step should be to smooth out some of the high end, right?
les
Or, forgot to add:
I removed the sho-bud volume control pedal - that might have been sucking some of tone...
Hi Les -
You did some nice things in there. :AOK Tone was good and smooth, but I'm just not a fan of using the neck pickup on OD. A little too dark for me. I'd love to hear you use the bridge pickup.

Still too dark... hmm... I'm trying to get the brights out of that neck pup! The bridge pup is way too thin... I can try the middle position, using both and then adjust.. Robben used to do that (in his Inside Story, early Yellowjackets days)...
Thanks for the comments .... much apprepreciated!
Why do you think your bridge pickup is too thin? What pickups are they?

Stock patent pending 1964 humbuckers.. The bridge pickups are sometimes known for being less hot than the neck pups on 335's (or least that is what I have read/heard).
Record a clip of the bridge anyway. I'd like to hear what it sounds like. Try compensating for the thinness with different tone settings and see if it helps.
