Neat, reminds me of a warrior with that upper horn not as wide as the lower one.

Fantastic looking top, I can only begin to imagine how killer it's going to looked when it's completely stained and finished!

sorry, should have mentioned that this work is from Vincent Guidroz at New Orleans Guitars www.neworleansguitar.com (http://www.neworleansguitar.com)
Superb instruments; Vincent has sent me numerous pictures of tops to choose from, and has called me to discuss finishing options. Can't get that kind of service and dedication from a large builder. I had so many tops to choose from I was overwhelmed....I finally chose this one due to it's uniqueness.
It will be finished in peacock.......hopefully he's dyeing it today and I'll have some initial pics :drool

That type of figuring is referred to as an angel step quilt, for obvious reasons. Exquisite top!!

Oh yeah, really nice top ! Nearly acquired a New Orlean but chose a Baker instead, I hope your future guitar will convince me to give them a try too !
Congrats !

A pal had a Hamer with a top like that on a recent custom order. It was finished in a Turquoise-y finish and he described it as a "boat wake" top.
Pretty much what it looked like to me. Very cool!

It's walnut, and it's a bass, but I love the wild top on my Alembic:

alanbass,
That is a fine looking bass!
Man I just spent an hour on that site thanks to you! I love great looking wood no matter if it's a guitar or bass. Those pics made me remember a buddy of mine who had a Alembic must have been a mK1 as he got it new in '81 or so. Beautiful instruments!

That's really amazing. New Orleans is doing some great work, and it's nice to see they're not totally doing copies too. Got the swamp juju hapenin'!
That is a gorgeous guitar. Can someone briefly explain the finish process? He stated it was Dyed, then Sealed, and then Color, I do not follow that exactly, Sealer before Color, and what does the Dye do exactly if it gets painted later?
Thanks.
