Here are the specs copied from the COA

Neck wood: 75 yr old AD Honduras mahogany
Fingerboard: 46 yr old AD Brazilian Rosewood
Back: 35 yr old AD Honduras mahogany
Top: 45 yr old 1 pc AD Red maple
Headplate: 45 yr old AD Gabon ebony
Pickups: JM Rolph '59 Pretenders
Options: Slim-Fat control that gradually turns from humbucking to single coil

I just got this today and have only spent a couple of hours with it. I will say that I am going to have a huge sale in the emporium very soon. This guitar exceeded my expectations and I think that Jack Briggs has catapulted himself to whole new level that very few will ever reach. Enough of my yappin', here are some more pics

Hey guys, thanks very much for the comments. Especially Fred. I must also give thanks to Jeff Weatherspoon who provided the super nice pics of Fred's guitar.

A side note - this instrument is #4 in my very limited Reserve Stock Program series. All of the woods used in its construction are old stock, as Fred stated above. In addition they are all air-dried which may be a familiar term to owners of high end acoustic instruments. The debate over air-dried versus kiln dried woods is an area of seemingly endless controversy amongst electric builders, but one play of an instrument like Fred's will quickly demonstrate the liveliness and musicality of the AD tonewoods in construction of even a solid body guitar. Even the trim pieces - pickguard, control cover plate and trussrod cover - are of 50 yr. old African Blackwood, which is a true rosewood which, although not officially endangered, is certainly more rare than Brazilian rosewood!

Jack uses vintage construction techniques including a hand rubbed nitro lacquer thin finish and uses hide glue as well.

Hi Neill,

I build the Classic only with the tune-o-matic/stoptail combo for the simple reason that it's my nod the the '50's guitars from the Kalamazoo factory that we all know about. If someone had to have a trem on a Classic, it would be a Bigsby or something of a non-intrusive retrofit such as made by Schaller, or the Les-Trem unit - neither of which I've had any experience with. For the more modern trem setups I recommend my Saturn or Deluxe model.

I`m a big fan of Jacks work.
That guitar is stunning!

Thanks very much, Damian! I've been moved by what I've seen of your work here as well. Keep up the good work, mate!

I would give Jack a call or send him an email. The price varies on the age of the woods, the source and the availability. You just can go out and buy wood that was harvested 45-100 years ago like you can with new stock.

Hey, thanks again guys. FWIW - most of the old stock tonewoods I have gotten are from same sources as those that went into the famed Max LP clones. Some - the 75 yr. old mahogany and the 45 yr. old red maple - are the same.

I'd rather have one of them than a Max - or more honestly, perhaps I'd take the Max then sell it to fund a Briggs or 5 :D

Well I'm Still loving it. I've gone through a couple of pickup changes and finally have settled on a pair of Rolph 57's. This guitar has infinite sustain, I'm talking Nigel Tufnel "Whaaa" sustain. It will be with me for a long time. It's just a great instrument and Jack is just so great to deal with and builds one hell of a guitar.

Thanks again for the kind words
