Well, I have been pondering for quite a while now over one of the Jazz Elite's and have just taken the plunge and ordered one with the diamond inlays, 5A back et al. This will be ready in his December batch, so let the wait begin.

I know Chuck Thornton from working with him at Pantheon Guitars from late 2001 to early 2004. He left Pantheon shortly after I did, but I understand he still does some contract work for them. He did neck carving (actually the final sanding of the CNC necks), fret jobs and final setup on the Bourgeois acoustic guitars. He's a great guy and an excellent guitar player to boot.
I got to play the prototypes of his guitars before I left. Great feeling, great sounding guitar. If I ever get my finances in order, I'd love to have one. Tell him I said hello.

A little over a week ago I received a Thorton Professional. It is the quilted maple, #48 on his site. I intend to do a thorough review later but I can say that I am more than pleased and Chuck was great to deal with. Also, as good as the pictures are, I was amazed at how much better the instrument looked in person. Also, the construction, ergonomics, and setup are exceptional...a very well thoughtout instrument.
The Professional has the five-way switch which gives some single coil settings from the Fralin Unbuckers. I have always be skeptical about such setups but he has done a great job with this feature. You can cover a lot of tonal territory with this guitar.
More later....enjoy

Thanks for the compliment! Space rock is a pretty vague term these days, but it started with bands like Pink Floyd. I just think of it as rock music with its head in the clouds... later stuff by Failure and Year Of The Rabbit, maybe some Cave In, some Muse... a lot of Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. haha I could go on and on.

Wow, I've been into Pink Floyd since my school days in the 70's, loved the Smashing Pumpkins in the 90's and my two favourite 'more current' bands are Radiohead and Muse; and to think that I never realised I was into space rock. Next time I see Ed O'Brien I will have to let him know that he's in a space rock band!

Hello from the owner of the newly received #57 from the December batch. I'm pleased to see this thread. I'm new here and relativly new to the world of electric guitar, just a couple of years at it after a couple of decades in the world of acoustics. I'm in west central Wisconsin, play in a folk/classic rock cover band for fun (and a little profit) and enjoy all things guitar related. I certainly agree with the sentiments expressed above. Alanbass1, what a great looking jazz elite. BuddyPo', I love the quilted top. I wish the pix of your guitar were still posted. Layne

Seen one on flea bay that was not being sold via CP Thornton (he seems to use this as an outlet) and the price it went for was $2450. It was an elite with a stop tailpiece and looked like a 4A top and back with chrome fittings, so pretty much what you could order for around $3k new.

If the numbering system is indicative, there are only 69 guitars in existance and 15 more (the Mar-April batch) under construction. The odds do not favor finding a used one.
I think there was a customer who, for whatever reason could not take delivery on his order and I believe that guitar got listed on ebay and on the CP Thornton web site.

Hi,
I have seen three used ones for sale. One I bought (serial # 33).
One was actually through cp thornton-maybe a trade in (and I think a TgP'er was the owner) and one from another TGP'er (serial # in the 20's).
Here is the one I bought. It rocks. These guitars are very comfortable to play. They are balanced in weight. The neck/fretboards are rolled a little to give them a great feel. ( I mean the fretboard has a curved edge, rather then a sharp 90 degree angle-hope that makes sense). Most important, They have great tone.!!!! and they look cool as anything. (IMHO) here is #33.

I just got a gold top Blues Queen, #52 I believe. I've had it about a week and have been very impressed not only with the obvious fit and finish of the guitar, but its playability and tone as well. Its got a very usable set of pickups that are a great match for the guitar, goes from full on P90 honk to warm jazz without any muddy tones anywhere. Loud but balanced tone acoustically with more sustain than most semi-hollow guitars. The neck through design is very cool. A great guitar for sure.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread for sharing their thoughts on CP Thornton guitars. Special thanks go to those who have responded to my questions and PMs. After several weeks of research, I have narrowed my choices down to an "elite" or a "professional"...
Is there much of a difference between the "woodier" sounds of the professional (Mahogany back and neck) vs the "snappier" sound of elite (maple back and neck)? Seeking help in this area....I'd hate to have to resort to a coin flip...(LOL)......

I've never bothered to check his stuff out until just now. All I can say is wow! I've been wanting something with a spruce top so I'm going to have to study this. For you guys that have one may I ask some questions?
1) I'm a dedicated 25-1/2" scale guitar man so what do you guys think of the 25" scale? (I've never been a PRS kind of guy so I have very little experience with 25" guitars)
2) My band plays 40s jump ala Louis Jordan and some jazz standards. I play with little to no overdrive. I play some BB King kind of solos, do these guitars sustain well?
3) Thanks for the help.

Not a fan of most contemporary jazz guitar so i don't know who that is. I've been playing solidbody guitars, Tom Anderson, Lentz and Fender for the last 7 or eight years but before that I was mostly using an old L5 and Epi Triumph. i got tired of craning my neck to see my fingers. Now I see this small bodied guitar and I'm thinking that looks like the perfect compromise.
So you don't mind the 25" scale? (I find 24-3/4" to be too loose and less overtones.)
Anyone know the difference in tone between the spruce or maple tops?

P-90 Blues Queen into a Victoria Regal II with 5881's or a Rockytop 45/50 combo with EL34's and Heritage G12M's. Less often through my 65 London combo. Probably at its best with an American voiced amp from a versatility standpoint, but for raw blues and a great 3-D sound, the JTM clone gets the nod.

I'm using my Jazz Elite through a Carr Rambler (straight no effects) and this is a great Jazz match up - smooth and clean. It sounds great also through my Kingsley Deluxe 30 and a Keeley Fuzz Head (very low on the Fuzz setting - around 9o/c position) which pushes out a real nice gritty 'on the edge' sound. Looking forward to my Professional which is being made as we speak; it will be Chuck's first guitar with a Brazilian rosewood 'board.

That was Feb. 2005. In March 2005 I purchased The Professional, #0007. Since that time I also purchased a Jazz Elite Acoustic, #44. I use the Professional for performing (strictly amateur) with my blues group, Ocie Fisher and the Hippdogs. I've written two Harmony Central reviews for the professional, two years apart. I changed the bridge pickup to an Anderson H2+ (a bit more crunch) and added a Bigsby tremolo (see picture). I think CpThornton guitars are stunning, well designed, perfectly constructed, and nearly bombproof. I sold my Gibson Johnny A to buy the first Thornton.....what an improvement in construction and tone. If you're thinking about a new guitar, call Chuck Thornton and check out his website....beautiful. He recently designed a new "stratocaster" and it looks superb! It's a bolt-through, or bolt-in design. Deep set, no heel. mmmmmmm! Single coil priority.....

Do you Thornton owners find your guitars to be more hollowbody or semi-solid-335-like, tonally speaking? How would you describe or compare the tone to more common guitars out there, and are there feedback problems when cranked?

Just last night I had a friend over. I was playing my CP Thornton Elite with a TS808 (re-issue) into a Divided by 13 FTR-37 on the Marshall Click Channel. I also was playing his Gibson LP 58 Re-issue to compare the difference.
This was the first time I've played the Thornton through a powerful amp at high volume (37 Watts) with moderate overdrive. Having played ES-335's and Gretsch Guitars, it my opinion that the Thornton will feedback only when you want it to. If you have never played around with "musical feedback" it can be a beautiful thing. I guess what I am saying is its only about 20% more feedback than a Les Paul, but 50% LESS than a ES-335.
It will not go crazy unless you release the strings. I have had a Epiphone Casino and a Gretsch that squeeled like a pig on Stage regardless of what you were playing. The feedback on the Thornton is very slow to load up, and can be interesting if you play with it a while. If you are considering one I highly recommend it. Everyone who sees it can't keep there eyes off it, and then they HEAR it. Thats really where the guitar shines. Hope this helps!

I have C.P.Thornton Jazz Elite S/n ME001. I have followed the development of the Chucks guitars since before the first prototype and jumped at the chance to buy this guitar. It is spectacular.
Some thoughts about earlier posts in this thread.
Compared to a 335 the Jazz Elite is more comfortable and has a tighter feel (playability) not harder just tighter. The 335s i've owned felt sloppier.
The construction is the best there is. I've seen the guts and the glory :p
Mine was the original photo made on his web site for the jazz elite. It has a bearclaw spruce top and maple back/sides. I wanted a woody tone and the spruce top was mandatory for me. It worked. I've seen first hand the quality of raw materials Chuck picks and they are without exception the very best (and expensive). As a sort of launch customer I got to pick the woods from the stock and it was hard. They were all superior.
Amps:
I play mine through:
1)Two Rock Custom (dumble style amp) with Two Rock 2x12 cab with original Celestion G12-65s. Very Larry and 80's & 90s RF.
2)Fender DRRI with early 90s EV12l. This with a zendrive very like 1 but 1 piece and lighter. Yea i know light and EV12L is an oxymoron.
3) Carr Rambler. Just a fine combo that is 1 piece light grab and go killer with this guitar. I think the Jazz Elite likes 6l6 power sections better than 6v6 but I know for a fact that Chuck's house standard amp is a Carr Slant 6v. Just my personal preference.
Chuck's new single coil guitar:
I've played I think 5 of the launch guitars for this model and they are true to Chuck's rep. Outstanding. As comparisons I have: Fender Masterbuilt 54 strat, Suhr maple/ash strat, Suhr Scott Henderson alder/rosewood, and Fender CS 60s Relic Alder/Rosewood strat.
Chucks new model is better than all but the 54 Masterbuilt for which i paid $3800 from Rudy's in NY. I would rank it as a peer to that model on sound quality alone. Chuck's guitars use much higher quality materials and the construction values are much higher. Of course the 54 is an exact recreation of a mass produced guitar built by everyday folks in 1954.
As you can tell I'm a fan of the luthier and his products. By the way I paid full price for my Jazz Elite and would do so again. I'm not affiliated with CPThornton Guitars other than being a customer and a fan.

http://www.hippdogs.com/cpthornton0007.htmlhttp://www.hippdogs.com/cpthornton0007.htmlI have 3 of chucks guitars at this point....call me crazy, but I've quit purchasing any other guitars. The Fusion is amazing, as are his semi-hollow guitars upon which he has built his stellar reputation. I own the Professional, Elite Jazz Acoustic, and a Fusion s/s/hum. You asked about amps? I use the Line 6 vetta 1, with the newest software (which makes the difference between beauty and the beast). It takes effort to dial in the tone, but it is so worth it. Say what you want about solid state, I have guitarists asking regularly what my rig is.....the tone is stunning. As for the Fusion, I don't think there is a better strat being produced. The neck joint is perfect. Buy one, you won't have one minute of regret, UNTIL, you start cruising for that GAS high, and you won't be able to rationalize another strat ever again....there isn't one that is better, anywhere.

I have sold ALL my electrics after buying my two CP Thorntons. I have an Elite (#46) and a Fusion (#76). I get every possible tone out of these imaginable. Like any red-blooded guitar player, I still look at guitars. But HONESTLY once you've played these you are spolied with both ease of play and tone. I had some very nice vintage guitars that I sold all within the last year because of Chuck's craftsmanship. I wouldn't say totally that I am cured of GAS, but at least I'm getting better. It all boils down to "am I really going to find anything that beats these guitars"? Probably not.
In full disclosure, I do have two Detemple Guitars that are on the way (Sep 08 delivery) and I have started collecting more amps. So actually the madness never really stops. I am the type player and collector that likes a guitar, then immediately starts picking it apart saying, "I wish it had this, or that". I wish the neck was more...blah blah. I can't find any flaws w/ these.
In short I am very happy right now with just having these two guitars. (and ten amps!)

Just an opinion on the special requests mentioned. I bet that Chuck would love to accomodate you but the expense and time involved are prohibitive. CNC programmer time, machine time, hand fitting, and testing for essentially a one-off not to mention Chucks time adds up pretty quickly especially in a small shop like Chuck's.

I think you are right. Anything that is a design element of the guitar subject to CNC reprogramming is unlikely to get a look in, especially at the prices Chuck is offering his guitars for. However, he has accommodated putting a Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, single diamond inlay, RS Guitarworks pots/caps and a phase reversal switch on the Professional I have coming this Wednesday so changes of materials and inlay work are up for negotiation.

I also got Mike to use RS Guitarworks super pots and Jensen/Hovland caps. She plays excellently and Mike reckons the Brazilian 'board gives a warmer/bigger sound. As for the ads, my Professional stars in a couple of these:

Just received my CP Thornton Fusion today. It is #79 but was repainted to vintage cream and had the pickguard replaced with a mint 3 ply guard at the request of its original owner before he took delivery. Wow!! This is a great guitar. Incredibly resonant. Makes me very curious about his Elite models as well. Definitely worth checking out. :AOK

well, he is not giving them away, but for the incredible tone you get-it sort of feels that way.

I'll agree with fugot when it comes to the price thing. They are not inexpensive by any means. Are there guys out there that would charge more? ... Sure! I think Chuck has set his price points at a level where a regular guy with some patience can acquire one of his masterpieces.
I felt that after 20 years of buying the run of the mill (f**d**r, G*b**n and others) guitars I would treat myself and man what a treat! The Blues Queen is the best guitar I've ever owned and played. :AOK

Just reading and studying all there is written and photographed on these guitars, compells me to think about either trading my Callaham S type or selling it (which ever comes first) for one of Mr. Thorntons Fusions!
I am rationalizing that I already have two outstanding Stratocasters (one of which is a Fender), so why not?
After all, I need one with a humbucker in the bridge position. Don't I?
I was perfectly happy with what I have until the ToneQuest Report ruined everything by making Mr. Thorntons creations known to me. Damn it!
Well...My mind is made up then.
There is no turning back now.
I'm on my way to the selling area.
If I am successful in my mad idea, do you think that I will earn the right to call Mr. Thornton by his first name?
Wish me luck!

I'd love to have a Fusion someday
question to owners ...as strat players ..isn't that 16" radius too flat?
I'm at the point where I don't like anything over a 9.5 " radius on a strat style guitar.
I've bought a few Warmoths w that 10 - 16 " compound radius that I ended up vary frustrated with ...while I like it for fast jazz fusion type playing - it does NOT lend itself to real strat style blues/funk/rock playing IMHO.
I bought a great warmouth korina strat w Fralins that I wanted to use for Jimi style playing ... and end up doing flamenco improv on it instead! and then end up reaching for a hollow body!
does he make any without that 16" radius? and would that have to be a custom order? I'd hope to pick up one used to make it more affordable.

I have had a great experience with Chuck and Richard on my Fusion. It is cream, and originally had a black guard and covers/tips. I bought it used and it had an issue with the volume control for the middle pickup, so i sent it back to them and got parchment guard and covers. Black humbucker remains, which overall looks fantastic. When it came back, it had another issue, so I sent it back, and they really went to work on it. It is now back in perfect order. All of this for a USED guitar, which I paid to have the new covers, etc done, but only pennies to have them fix the pots the first time. And NO charge the second time. The time and intellectual curiosity this took was amazing, and the communication superb.
I just bought the last Elite in the current batch as I can't imagine a better builder or product.
Can't wait.

Last paragraph of August ToneQuest review: "If you have been secretly hoping to discover a guitar that can rekindle your passion for the instrument...one that clearly surpasses the ordinary in craftsmanship, design, playability, tone and value, you can't do better than a CP Thornton. Order yours now...you can thank us later."
They also make the point that the Gibson Custom Shop builds more in a week than Chuck would physically be able to make in his lifetime in the current production mode. And we all know about the ups and downs of Gibson's quality. This is an amazing time to own one of Chuck's guitars; they will have a future value that is guaranteed to be high and a current value of having only the best to enjoy. How many investments really can say that? Can you have that kind of personal value and passion for a mutual fund?

Hello Alan...
I took delivery on a CP Thornton Pro Acoustic two weeks ago (Check the CPT web site and look at #101). The bottom line on this is that the acoustic sound is incredible! It sounds better than my Martin HD28 mic'd, and better than my Martin D-15 w/ a Fishman active pick up.
As I live within 30 minutes of Chuck's shop, I had the opportunity to play this model prior to ordering my own, and I immediatley realized that I could "thin the herd" of guitars that I owned... sold an Ibanez AS200, a 70s US made Strat, and I have the D-15 up for sale also. This guitar does it all and does it all very well... it is the only guitar that I use at gigs.
The hardest thing to deal with is the wait... order it today.
Let me know if I can answer any specific questions...

Upon hearing that all but two of this new batch of archtops are spoken for and those won't be ready until well after the new year, Chuck offered to sell me his #94 Professional with a 5A top.
It was his shop guitar and demo for those close enough to him to have a test run.
I figured he must have good feelings about the guitar to let it represent his best work to prospective clients and of course i didn't want to wait. I have to say I'm thrilled as it's everything and more than he described.
This is in comparison to my two others, # 28 Jazz Elite and #71 Fusion and, while they're both the pinnacle of the craft, for me the Professional # 94 is possibly the best yet.
There really is no redundancy between the Pro and the Jazz model and they both have an ebony fingerboard.
The neck specs, body/top woods, pickups and wiring, and the sound and setup, etc. are different enough to justify both.(As if I need to :)
He also offered me (maybe it's gone by now don't know) another previously sold Professional #106 available with a Madagascar rosewood fingerboard/ headstock veneer that has one of the nicest tops I've ever seen.
I knew I wanted ebony with jumbo frets and I got it!
It doesn't hurt to ask if you can't wait. This all came about out of a simple email inquiring about the tonal differences between his models. Right place right time I guess. I'm set now and loving it. Photos of all three guitars are on his site somewhere.

Hi,
Just thought I'd drop in.
I just ordered a Vintage Cream Fusion...mint guard with vintage cream knobs and covers. I asked for 6130 frets since they seem like a happy medium. I have them on a Tele.
The only thing I'm slightly worried about is the 16" radius. My Tele has a 12" radius which I like so I figure the 16" shouldn't be much of a problem.
I'm pretty excited.

I've thought about what you have asked and have to say that to an extent, I too had the same reaction to this type of guitar...At first.:)
If you are used to playing any guitar that is not a CPThornton, (like I WAS), perhaps your playing dynamics may not work like it did on your favorite .
I could be wrong about this. It wouldn't be the first time.:)
Perhaps I will not express myself clearly enough in what follows, but here it goes...:worried
When I first recieved my Fusion, the guitar just blew me away in repect to the quality of craftsmanship and beauty of tone.:AOK
However...my style of playing worked differently on this guitar than any of my others.
So...for what it's worth, after much experimentation (as I wanted to keep this guitar), I adjusted my amp, turned down my heavy-handedness and gained all the dynamics I had before... and more. I just did not have to abuse this guitar to get it.:AOK
I could play everything I could before but with less energy and I have a larger range of expression than I did before, with more sustain.
I believe this guitar has made a better player out of me.:)
My attacks are more precise, more fluid over the frets.
My hammer-ons, harder or softer, are much more expressive, as there are more varieties of volume between the two now.
This without that fatigue creeping in prematurely, and without losing, but gaining more tones than I was able to achieve with my other guitars.
I can still pick up anyone of my other guitars and play as before.
And if I FEEL heavy-handed, I will pick one up. No problem.:Devil
In closing, playing the Fusion just gives me more than what I had because I took the time to dial in the guitar, amp and me.:AOK
My only hope is that this note (of my own opinion) might make sense to someone.
Especially you.:dude

Thanks for the response but I'd still like to hear clips. It's actually dismaying to me that an instrument would require you to play differently and that's my concern. I'm at the point where I want the instrument to reflect what is in my head and not the other way around.

My $5,600 Gibson Johnny A was a joke compared to my $3,200 professional....I've bought and sold over 100 high end instruments in the past 7 years and my two CpThornton's are what getting carried to my gigs (and a triple pickup Suhr Tele). Chuck's guitars are simply perfecto. I put a gold Bigsby on my professional and I think it looks superb....many compliments tonally and visually. I'm going to try to include some photos. Please check my website: www.hippdogs.com and you'll see both the CpThornton Fusion and Professional. Thornton guitars are the last guitars you'll purchase.http://www.hippdogs.com/cpthornton0007.html

I've got a sunburst Blues Queen #137 inbound, & I'm friggen' blue from holding my breath!! ;)
It's been many years since I've ordered a guitar from a small builder, & I'm so stoked I'm about ready to blow up! :banana
Pix & a tone report on Queenie after she arrives...

I'm not in this batch but wish I was. I just ordered a tobacco burst Blues Queen. Won't be ready until October!
Not easy buying an expensive guitar (or any guitar for that matter) without playing it first but my research has never turned up a negative comment on the Thorntons.
The upside of waiting a few months is I have some time to save my pennies!

Not sure of the serial number, but Chuck e-mailed me last night to say that he wanted to ship my Professional out on 5/26. I told him that it was Memorial Day, but lets see if Tuesday would work. I played an Elite several months ago and his workmanship and attention to detail is first class. I have a Gibson '63 Custom Shop Historic reissue 335 block on the way as well, so now I need to shed some gear...

My burst Blues Queen #137 arrived on schedule today, so here are my initial impressions:
Queenie is super resonant, nice & light, and very pretty! No pix yet, haven't had time to shoot any. She's darker overall,(the tobacco burst) but very spanky soundwise, can get really close to Tele sounds on the bridge... Lot's of different tones available in between using the neck and bridge P-90's, and the 2 volume & 2 tone controls. The neck pickup produces everything from smolky jazz to very credible strat/SRV tones... Definitely not a dark sounding guitar! No digital scale, but seat of the pants comparo with my Fenders tells me she weighs right around 7lbs, plus or minus a few ounces... She's got good balance & hangs very naturally on a strap...
The neck is a smidge smaller than I normally like, about the same as a PRS wide/fat. I knew this going in, & one size fits all, so not a problem...
The natural resonance is off the charts! She's fairly loud & sustains forever acoustically unplugged, & she has this uber cool vowel-like sibilance when sustaining a note plugged in, kinda goes ahhoww... not like a wah, more like saying ahh, and ohh, with no break between them... This blows my mind!! It's like the notes turn over by themselves without loud feedback. Incredible!! Never had a guitar that does this before, although I've heard a few, mostly Lesters. Maybe it's the interaction of the mahogany & maple, added with the air inside the semi hollowbody? The whole guitar resonates more than any of my Fenders, you can feel every chord & note vibrate along the neck and body.
She's got lot's of nice touches: The tuners are extremely smooth, stable, & easy to tune. The strap buttons ore oversized, but not too big, just right. The range & taper on the pots is also very smooth & easy to dial in...
Just like any woman around, she's flawed somewhat...
Since Queenie is so new, there's that new guitar thing going on, which is hard to describe... All she needs is regular attention, to smooth out some of the newness, which should only take a week or two, and she can grow into her role as my new best girl, comfortable as a great fitting pair of broke in shoes...

Took delivery of Blues Queen #141 on Thursday. I've only had a few fleeting hours with her so far, but sufficient time to reveal that she is by far the best sounding and looking (vintage tobacco burst) e-guitar I have ever played.
I'll post some pictures (unless the Thornton web site beats me to it) when my daughter brings my camera back from her vacation.
I went all out and got a Carr Mercury to keep her company. A truly incredible combination, what tone every pedal maker is aiming for.

This is without question the nicest guitar I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few-I knew the craftsmanship would be top notch and it is-the guitar is beautiful. It sounds just as good as it looks. As Cobra said-it sounds great acoustically-plug it in and enjoy-it makes me want to slow down my playing just to hear the tone of each note-hard to describe but I've found my ultimate guitar-highly recommend a Chuck Thornton guitar-totally worth waiting for

Thorntons are the best out there for the money in MHO. I have an Elite #2, a Goldtop Blues Queen and a Fusion. All killer!!!

I got to thinking about other guitars and took a look at a Collings SoCo. Very, very nice. And, I must admit, I tried it thinking I would fall in love with it and ditch the Thornton as a necessary funding move. But then I picked up the Elite after a month of not playing it regularly. Forget it. While I can't fault the Collings, Chuck's guitar KILLS it. Much tighter in the neck/lower E and A strings, much more singing in the high E. Really a remarkable difference. And I think Chuck's personal attention to building each guitar really shows in the quality of the build and the materials selected. So, the brief affair of the heart is over and I am home again.:bow

I was recently fortunate enough to acquire Elite #25 off ebay of all places. Absolutely amazing instrument! Highest quality workmanship. The neck is perfect, at least for my smallish hands (I think it is most like a prs wide fat). The setup was also perfect for my taste (very low and fast without a hint of buzzing) and apparently was as it arrived to the original owner. Just a gorgeous guitar both visually and tonally. Actually took me a little time to get acustomed to it's unique voice (which is definitely a good thing......this doesn't sound like anything else I've had occasion to play) but once I adjusted the amps from my usual settings, Yikes!
Versatility galore. Absolutely sounds the best through an acoustic image corus of all things. Add an ethos tle for overdrive and it covers everything from jazz to hard rock and roll. Now, to search for a fusion, lol. Chuck's skill and obvious love for what he does is obvious from the moment you open the case, everytime it's in your hands and with every note it produces.
