Mike,
My only question is, have you ever hooked them all up at once just to see what would happen?
Nice collection. What's that little brown amp on the top right under the pete townsend album ? no name on the front.

Someone else has heard of the Gretsch Expandafuzz! I just found out about them a few years ago. They are quite odd, somehow I have two of them now. Three EQ settings and a fuzz. Not very useable but maybe for some 60s biker chick flick music ;)
Anyone going to repost the list with more blanks filled in?
Oh the brown amp is one of the best sounding amps ever made, Steve Kimock's secret to his huge slide tone, a De Armond R5T. If you ever see one in a shop for sale, grab it. They go for insane amounts on ebay.
what's the story on the schaller fuzz?
i've seen it mentioned before, but no details.

Schaller is a German silicon fuzzface clone, not bad.
Katie and John Stossel were here but they were too high on "E" so we had to run tape without them while they played with each others' fuzzy parts.
Hope it will be out early 2007, they are down in SC now interviewing Geoffrey Teese (I guess it's not all about fuzz pedals, though that is all I put out for them).

Close! On the little brown amp on the right of the bassman is a dark color kit fuzz pedal. May have also been also sold by Lafayette, but this one is labelled HEATHKIT.

I was referring to the rectangular grey one on top of the acoustic amp. Thats a Lafayette fuzz tone, right? I had one when I was a kid, I got it from Lafayette electronics in my home town. I paid $15 dollars worth of lunch money for it. You don't wanna know what I paid for the one I have now.

AnalogMike: What are you using the test generator for (top right, above the Multivox)? I've been writing a lot of music by running multiple audio generators and slowly changing their pitch to switch chords.
analogmike
10-06-2006, 12:34 PM
We have a newer digital controlled signally generator we use for repairing and calibrating pedals. That old one Heathkit signal generator is mostly for display. But I bet it would sound cool through some effects, and with some echo... your use of them sounds interesting. have fun!

Another one: The red pedal on the right on top of the Supro... a Univox Superfuzz? A buddy of mine just gave me a grey version of one of those. I had one stolen years ago and I was lamenting the loss, and he said here, take it.
I also have a Leslie 16, the functional equivalent of the Vibratone.
Mike, that is the greatest display of pedal porn I have ever seen.
analogmike

Yes, a superfuzz, with missing (bluish) rubber pad on top. Added it to the list above. Superfuzz is an awesome fuzz with good upper octavia tones available.

I've never seen another Sam Ash Fuzz Boxxx with the knobs on the top like the one in the pic. My brother has one that sounds friggin unbelievable! I think they were also branded Astrotone as well. GREAT pedal. In my opinion, that's one to clone.
Denyle_Guitars
12-16-2006, 06:42 PM
OK Mike, here's an oddity for you. I know it's a clone of something because Earth Sound never actually designed anything. What it's a copy of though is a complete mystery to me.

BTW, the psychedelic machine is my favorite one pictured.

http://www.analogman.com/graphics/astrotone/topassembledsml.jpgThose Sam Ash/ Astrotones are very cool... that was the 1st pedal I cloned and we have parts ready to make 100 more when I get the time.
Check out my article on David Gilmour's Astrotone that I restored for him
http://www.analogman.com/graphics/astrotone/astrotone.htm
Earth sound, I remember those amps from the 70s, big padded things like Kustom. I have heard of that pedal and am looking for one but not sure what's inside it.
Have fun!

Is that psychedermic looking lump one of those bags like Jeff Beck had? The earliest version of a Heil type device[I don't know what they call 'em]. You know, the tube in the mouf effect ala Joe Walsh, Jan Akkerman, Frampton...

Yes, that is THE BAG by Kustom Electronics, a talk box. It's the model that Jeff Beck used. Kustom contacted me last year to dissect mine as they want to reissue it.

...ah a room with a view !!!!
nice one Mike..... glad you have my very first pedal - Morley Power Wah Fuzz.... got it when I was 14 in '74 for my birthday - parents said I could have ONE pedal - so I got the one that had the most stuff on it :BEER and played that all thru Highschool in the 70's.......
now if you can just find the Fuzz/distortion circuit from the Peavey Musician MKIII I also used then 9thru a (Heil sound 4x12), Im on it :drool
Is this the same documentary with the guy with the white cap and shaved head ?? Should be a coool one....

this should be a really cool film , I think he was interviewing Roger Mayer and some others too........ and he was planning on having rough cuts done by Christmas too:rotflmao looks like he got in way deeper than he thought:YinYang

He somehow found my one real NOS yellow Mullard OC44 transistor, and was itching to hear it. He really enjoyed when we tested it in a socket vs our standard NKT BEANO boost and there was no difference. He's a good geek!!!

One of the Colorsound Supa Tonebenders is a Steve Hackett model. I have one of those and can't find much info on them. What do you know about them? When they were made? How many made? Value? etc.
Thanks! Cool pic and cool idea for the film!

the SUPA tonebender Steve Hackett edition was made in 1987 1988. Not sure how many were made but not a large amount. I had Steve sign mine and he couldn't really remember if he was even paid for them :)
I love mine though!
