Is it safe to leave amp turn on but IN STANDBY while not plugged into a cab or load of any kind. So if you are setting up for a gig and want to start the amp warming up before you get all the cables or cabs set up is this safe for the amp. I never turn my amps on without a cab plugged in first but I was recently told it would not harm the amp to be turned on and not plugged into a cab as long as the amp is on STNDBY. Is this true?

My answer - It won't hurt anything but I wouldn't advise doing it, simply because you're increasing the chance that you'll take the amp out of standby (and put it online) w/o the speakers.

+1, too much of a chance, things can happen, you forget to plug the cabinet. Somebody else does you a favor and flips it to play mode etc...

edited: My rule of thumb is no speaker, no power. I plug the speaker in first, and then plud in the power. Better safe than without.
