Is it, standby switch first, THEN power, or power THEN standby, when switching on an amp?
Cant remember, had a simple on off amp for ages.
 :o

Power first, then standby. Reverse the order for powering down...

no need to be embarassed. :)
You did the smart thing by asking.
Now if you had been too proud to ask and shortened the life of some tubes by doing it wrong, THAT is something to be embarassed about!

The wording is always a little tricky.
Power on, standby off.
Then throw in a tube amp with only a power button, you get a genuine conondrum.

From what I know it does'nt matter what you turn off first- it's just to keep the tubes from receiving full current before they're warmed up (or something like that!)

Many thanks to all for the replies, I really want to get it 'right' as valves/tubes are so expensive nowadays, especially the nos el34's.
