I bought a thin skin Tele off a GP er J purcell and it's the bombdizzle man what a blast. I'm into strats only but this Tele can do LP junior stuff and more , then back to classic Fender sounds and feel. Rings like hells bells. Boy funny how they got it right so long ago.. Wow So much to learn now.. Dig it.......

I've been a strat guy (well, primarily...) since ALMOST day one of starting to play electric---I tried 3 teles---sold em' all quickly---then about 5 months ago, I put one together w/ really nice parts---Glendale bridge and saddles (double-notch---I really dislike the lip on trad tele bridges) Don Mare pickup rewinds (WOW!!!!!)
Guitarmill B. Scotch body, and a FAT Allparts neck---even sprung for those Callaham knurled knobs---and I am a CONVERT!!!---(and a pervert too, but that's another story!)
now, my 64' strat can stay at home---and I really don't mind at all---the tele kills live---although I also take some kinda Gibson too---but this tele is the one---for the tele jones---
enjoy!!

Teles are too cool. They're primal yet versatile. The feel and sound are addictive. Alot of guitars can cop others but nothing cops a Tele.

nothing quite compares to the right tele for you. they did get it right so long ago, and no matter what they "improve" the right tele may still be pure vintage for someone (like me).

Here's a picture of that Tele. It's one of the better current production Fenders I've played. Oh no seller's remorse.:puh:D

I recently bought a California Tele w/Lollars from Brian @ Acme Guitar Works. I wasn't a big fan of rosewood fretboards on a Tele...until now. :AOK

I have a nice MIJ 62 RI in CAR with Bardens that I love. Lately, I have been thinking about getting another Tele. I love all of my guitars. The Tele is certainly one of my favorites.

My favorite sounds very much like zappafrank's.
USAGC 3lb 10 oz ash body in reliced b'scotch, Callaham bridge & control plate/electronics, bakelite pick guard and Don Mare 2324 Roy pups.
It has a WD neck on it that I like but I have a All Parts TMO-FAT on the way as I think I'm ready for something a little beefier. The WD is a medium C but I'm now looking for more meat.
The guitar weighs in at around 6lbs. It sounds great and my back loves it.

Yeah, me too. I got 'bit' in '92. Got a Fender Tele - weighed a ton, but I played it. A few years later I met a Tele fiend in Santa Barbara who had 4 of 'em, a couple old ones, a couple newer ones, all GOOD ones. I began to see the light.
Then, in 2001, I got a chance to buy a refin '56 Esquire w/ original finish maple neck. I put 2 Lindy Fralin Blues Specials in it, and non-threaded steel saddles, and I've never looked back. Since then I've bought 4 more Teles, and kept 2 of 'em.
Just a month ago I played a gig with my '56 Esquire/Tele and Tone King Meteor II - we played everything, old rock, reggae, blues, country, funk, soul, R&B, psychedelic rock, classic rock, cajun swamp stuff. Some of the best tones I've ever had - just the Tele, amp, and sometimes a little compressor or delay.
Great guitars - I'm officially adicted for life!

get ready for a HUGE neck:D ---I had to 'adjust' a bit when playing near the nut---E, F, F#, G---but---I'm Used to it NOW!!!---(I always liked it 'beefy' up higher on the neck---but this one is 1" all the way up---)--Enjoy!!

mmmwwaa hahahah ! Another one joins the Tele side!!!! Welcome! now you'll have to have a 3 or more for now on! mmmmwwwwahahahahaha!ahh.. That's so true - Played ONE strat for years & years, but when I finally got my first tele something snapped inside (me, not the guitar) - there's just so many cool variations on the theme.. HAD to have a thinline (the tone of mahogany, but lighter than the lightest swamp ash).
And when the neck p-up on the '52 died, I realized I needed an Esquire, too. They definitely sound better without that extra magnet pulling on the strings - and if you wire it right, there's a ton of tones available from that single p-up!
Then, of course, there's the Keef model w/those 'Wide-Range' humbuckers.. and everybody needs at least one Bigsby equipped tele.. and one w/a rosewood board..
I've been listening to a lot of Jim Campilongo lately and I'm thinkin I need a '59 top-loader - strings are even easier to bend..

EP: It's a Yuri "inspected" teambuilt. Fantastic fit and finish, but I bought it truly for the stupid tones I got when I first plugged it in when I happened by it in MD on a wedding trip. One of those, "hmmm, cool guitar,,, can I plug it it.................................. holy shit!" moments. :dude
Dana O: thanks bro... it's twangy, juicy, gritty, breathes fire when handled roughly...

That sums up what a good tele can do for you. You benefit greatly from a good amp and good technique.

Indeed. Hey Chris, my Guitar Mill body only needed a small shim (about 1/3MM) in the neck pocket, and I didn't have to touch the bridge saddles. Worked out well and the guitar now weighs less than the original body.

I own a strat, that nails the strat tone in my head, all I need now is a thin skin tele and a Gibson Es-335...mmmmmm Thin Skin tele with Lollars.
