imho, the modern reissues are not close to the NOS Mullards

give them some more time to get the bugs worked out and they will probably be good tubes

please do not let the name"mullard" fool you. they are not mullard they are russian tubes. While there is nothing wrong with russian tubes do not confuse them with british made mullards:horse

I have both vintage Mullards and the GT reissues and there is no comparison. The GT's sound good for what you pay for - in an EL84 amp they sound Marshall like, but the real deal is the way to go. I actually like my Amperex 12ax7s better in that amp along with Amperex EL84s. The Mullards sound best with the 6L6 in my other amp.

Nice. A bit rounder than the mullards. I'm partial to RCA's myself.

i am very interested in that topic as well. i have a selmer with nos mullard tubes in it. i don't think i can retube it with those again so what would be a good tube choice to replicate that sound?

I have run the new Mullard branded EL34's in a couple of amps (Diezel Einstein, VHT 50CL) and they sound fantastic to me.

I think an important point to make is, though Mullards are the "original" marshall tube, that doesn't mean you won't love the sound of your amp with some other 12AX7s even better. I find my amp sounds the best with RCAs... they give it a bigger bottom end and sweet mids that I love. RFTs have sort of the same sound as Mullards but grittier. GE's are sweet but with a very even response... I find theyre great for phase inverter positions, or reverbs, or other stuff, or if you want a very flat midrange to your sound. The Phillips I've tried are alittle weaker sounding, but good for clean or jazz. Though many people love Telefunkens, they're too jazzy/sterile for my tastes. Soooo try some out haha.

Mine sound VERY much Hendrixy and Creamy, in the vintage vibeness, however imo, they sound linear, I think I prefer my old 6Ca7.

I used to use them, but they have gotten too expensive to be sensible. I use JJ gold preamp tubes now. They sound wonderful. I don't miss the mullards now.
