View Full Version : Microphonic wires?

I noticed in my BFDR if I tap on the 170V lead on the second triode of V1 (with a chop stick :>) that it is quite audible in the speaker. One or two other leads on V1 are also microphonic (neighboring that one). Others not much at all. At first I thought it was the wire vibrating the tube and that the tube was microphonic, but I find that it happens with any 12AX7 that I plug in to an equal extent, and not all the connections to V1 have this microphonic property.

Anyone else find this to be so?

Totally normal. Big-time signal wire. ALL other amps I've ever been into do exactly the same thing.

Makes sense. Just never heard anyone mention it. :)
