Discharging the transformer or caps or... okay, technical help

I received an Ampeg VT60 head yesterday, it acts a little flakey and several of the knobs feel loose. I was going to open it up and poke around in there, but I know that there is stored energy in there somewhere. Since I make a better father, husband, and even employee when I have a pulse, I want to discharge any potentially "shocking" suprise areas.

What should I look for and how do I do it without frying the amp?
