Some of these kits go together so quickly its almost disappointing at how little time they take. ;)

What sort of skills / knowledge are you starting out with? If you are a beginner, I'd pick your kit based on the quality of the directions and available support. The GDS and Allen kits have great directions / support. So do the Metropolous kits, though there are no combo kits there. I
For example, I found it no problem to build a 100 watt plexi as my first (successfully completed) kit because the Metropolous support and directions are really good. I had no success building a much simpler 5E3 kit some years ago because the instructions were not at the same level. That's coming into it with no knowledge or experience on my end building amps (just some basic soldering skills). If you know your tube amp tech, that's a very different story--pretty much any quality kit is doable (like those mentioned above).

yeah i pretty much have little to no experience... i'm going in on this project with a friend who has not too much more knowledge either.... i expect to screw this up and learn alot from it and do it right the second time around
but i don't mind doing my work and researching this. My goal is to learn a bunch and start making my own mods and developing my own sound.
I don't want a color by numbers kit but at the same time i'd like to end up with an amp that works.

i'm also starting to build pedals as practice before i start building the amp... i'm not sure how much that will help me but it's a lot cheaper to screw that up

You might want to start off with a 5F1 5 watt champ clone. You'd be suprised how loud 5 watts is with a 2X12.
