Does anyone here have any experience with AutoTune. I'm thinking about getting the latest Antares AutoTune plug-in and I'm wondering what your experiences were with it. I don't want it to correct a lead vocal, because I think the little nuances are what a lead vocal is all about. But, I think it might be a great tool for tightening up some backing vocals and wanted to know 1) if any of you had any experience with it; 2) what your opinion was about using it on backing vocals; 3) did you have any pointers in using it? and 4) whether it was pretty easy to use?
Thanks in advance,
Rusty

With the availability of Melodyne, spending ANY money on AutoTune would be a waste. Melodyne smokes it in every way (including price, I believe)

Listen to their online demos if you don't believe me.
I've been using AutoTune for about as long as it's been available and I've NEVER been happy with the sound. It saturates and "digitizes" high frequencies. Sucks a little life out of them. Beyond that it's just simply not as intuitive as Melodyne.

Melodyne is great. I like Waves' Tune, too. Auto tune is OK if you only use it to fix the off notes, and never run anything in "auto" mode.

Autotune does it's job decently in moderation. Melodyne, however, IS much better sounding.

speaking only of AutoTune (no experience with the others), it imparts a sound, even at modest settings, that I can detect instantly. I hate it. I'm not dredging up the diatribe about whether or not it's cheating...I'm just saying I can spot it a mile away.
