Looking to put some Grover kideny bean type tuners on my LP. Is there a certain size or type you have to consider before buying some?? I have to get them on-line so I can compare them to my crappy stock keystone type in my LP. If anybody has any they want to get rid of let me know as well. Thanks for any info.

Be careful, the current Grovers are pretty much garbage Taiwan stuff (despite what people will tell you) you'd be better off with some Tone Pros Klusons as they are a sealed gear and improvement on the originals. They'll fit perfectly on your guitar without any mods.

TonePros Klusons are garbage too. They are cheap Ping made machine heads. The best on the market now is Sperzel, Schaller, and Gotoh.

I believe that the Tone Pros are made by Gotoh.
The Sperzels are good, but inconsistent American made and random. I've had good ones and others that seized up and one that actually fell apart on stage.
Schallers are probably the best, still made in Germany (for now).
The WD "Kluson" tuners are the Pings if I remember correctly, those are stamped steel and are pretty crappy.

Why are the tuners "crappy?"
Do they actually "slip?"
Most tuning problems are a result of the string getting caught in the nut or in the saddles.
One of my biggest gear regrets is reaming out my 98 R8 for Grovers.

I put the G roto locking on my LP Studio VM and have been very happy since. Yes.. they slipped, no, it wasn't the nut, or the saddle, it was the damn tulips they used. Best 49.00 I spent at Stew Mac was getting the grovers.
No drilling was required, and kept them (a habit I have, I always hang onto the parts I replace).

There is only one Kluson. It was bought by TonePros and yes they are Ping. TonePros sells these Klusons to WD. They still are cheesy in my opinion.

I've heard many people bag on the new Grovers but I bought a new set from Stewmac and they've been rock solid on my Les Paul.

I decided to go with the Kluson Tone pros. Will see what happens. It was toss up between those and the Grovers
