I don't know what is wrong with me. I have two great guitars that I've owned for over two years now and I find myself wanting something new.

I've been checking out Gibson VOS 58 RI's. I'd have to sell my 57 Goldtop RI to get one. I also want an LP Junior. Haven't decided on a double cut or single cut yet. An SG of some sort would be good too.

I also want an acoustic. I've been checking out anything from Gibson SJ-200's to the Taylor GS and 615's.

Right now I own a 2004 Gibson 57 Goldtop RI and a Cunetto era Nocaster Relic. Both are great! I think if I found a really good 58 VOS RI, I could ditch the Goldtop. I don't know if I can ever sell the Nocaster though. It would probably get a pretty good price. Almost enough to cover an LP Jr. and new acoustic, but I just don't know if I can part with it.

GAS sucks!

I'm reading this as I type and I sound like a real a@#. Like this is a big problem or something.

I just traded some stuff that was sitting around for a Reverend Warhawk. Not expensive and really nice guitar. Different sound to add to the stack.

It's all about the inspiration. My solution when you have too many guitars
is to sell most of them and start all over again, because getting new guitars is fun and inspiring. After selling most of my corporate guitars, i'm embarking on the world of small Luthiers. I really like the Gadow and the Grosh so far - many more to explore.

Amen Brother. That's EXACTLY what I do! I do have a few choice pieces I've managed to keep over time, but we'll see how long that lasts!

Maybe we can play checkers in pshych ward! :crazyguy

I've been real good for several years and recently began selling things off that don't get played. However...... Yes, you're right. It is a serious illness for which there is no cure. Plus, we're all enablers here. Kind of like a drunk hanging out at a bar and trying to quit. "One more and I'm done. I swear."

You can never have too many guitars....

I'm up to 9 thus far... and still want more...

I find that with each one things go differently... not sure if it's in the tone or the feel, or maybe just the eye of the holder, but I find I go into different directions.

Same goes for pedals, amps, combinations of such.

That's why it's so much fun!

Don't part with guitars you've "bonded" with. It will be like the realtionship adage " the one that got away". I have retired 2, meaning I don't play them but will always keep them. I've had numerous guitars now that I wish I did not trade for whatever crazy reasons.

I have 3 electrics and 2 acoustics and it's too many. Every once in awhile I get the urge to buy a new guitar or amp. Then I play my beat to hell, worthless, '75 LP Deluxe and think to myself: "That thing does everything I need, what would another guitar do for me?" It's all about self control and appreciating what you've got. Buying a bunch more guitars won't help me learn the Black Page or improve my improvising skills in 7/8 time...

Isn't this why this board is called the Gas pages???
