I am finally biting the bullet and starting the process with Mr. Crook. I cannot seem to solidify what color Paisley I want. For those of you that own a Crook Tele could I beg of you to post some good pics in here or give me a link? The pictures on his site just don't do them justice I am sure.

Also add whatever else you want about your dealings.

Thanks fellas.

Not to be rude, but I have seen all of the ones on his site 100 times. I want to see some more detailed pics of ones owned by you guys. It's kinda hard to tell a whole lot from his site IMO.

Are you set on Paisley or open to other colors.

To me, a Crook Paisley is Brad's trademark.

Well I am open. However I have liked paisley print long before I knew who Brad was. I really have a weak spot for gretsch Orange too.

Didn't used to be.........but playing a paisly tele now is like playing a Striped EVH guitar to me. Unless I picked up a paisley guitar that really spoke to me and I had to have it.........I'd go with a nice Nitro color. Especially if I was ordering it from scratch. But if I HAD to have Paisly it would be light greenTurquoise and Dark blue. http://www.thegearpage.net/board/images/icons/icon14.gif

Let us know what you decide and post Pics when its done!!

I say wave your freak flag high!

I agree that Brad has put himself on the map, and that he's known for paisley teles, but James Burton played one for many years, and that shouldn't have kept anyone from getting one.

I've heard that Bill Crook builds a great tele, btw. :)

If you like Gretsch orange take a look at my new Crook 51_STP. This would Also look Great in a Tele Style. His guitars are the best. I own 4 of them.

Just wanted to chime in... late to the party.

I'm embarrased to say how many quality Teles I have owned over the past few years... including a few vintage pieces, a Cunetto relic Nocaster, etc. I have owned 2 Crooks (a black paisley and a Mary Kaye -- I'll try to get some pics up on the web later) and they have been the best playing, tightest (hard to define), and best balanced, both in tone and feel, of any Tele I have ever owned. I absolutely love his neck contour -- he probably makes them any way people ask, but I bought both of mine used and they came with Fat '60s maple cap necks that just play incredible. They came with Adder neck pups and VooDoo bridge pups.

Also, one of mine has a McVay Bender and if anyone was wondering about those, they are also the nicest Bender mechanism I've played. Similar to a Glaser bender where there is no significant routing of the body, just a modified saddle and a strap-lock attachment on the neck plate.

You know when you pick up a guitar, whether it cost $250 or $2500, and you say to yourself, "Yeah -- this thing is just magical!"? That has been my experience with the Crooks.

Just my 2 cents...
