The Gibson VOS Model cost 10x as much, but this one looks like fun, and it would be easy to make mods to.

I tried to get people to talk about this in reference to the musiciansfriend offering. General consensus, currently overpriced. Wait for the GreenDay hype to die down a bit.

I'm not into Green Day. Too Old. I was thinking more Leslie West. But I can see how that would affect the price. Actually, I was hoping it was well enough made to justify the $300 price tag. I thinking of changing the pickup right away. Later, the pots, then the bridge and the nut. Tuners are changed only if needed.

I am looking to pick one up later this winter---and rout it for a pair of orphaned 50's P13's...a cheapo Tele/Special/Jr type I can haul around Europe for gigs. The neck carve is OK by me---nice round late 50's style.

I have one that I got as a small bonus from my office. Its the sunburst model. I immediately changed the tuners to tulip-buttoned ones for cosmetic reasons. The pickup is a stacked bucker and sounds so-so. Mine is a nice weight and has no flaws. The neck is slightly chunky. The neck angle makes it hard to get the pole pieces close to the strings, since you can't raise the pickup itself while using the stock cover.

IMO it would be 1000% better if the neck angle were a little less
