View Full Version : Does anyone know whether Fender has a strat in this color?

Does anyone know whether Fender has a strat in this color with a maple neck? I played this guitar today, and it was great. Unfortunately, it's out of my price range at $4K. That being said, a Fender strat around a grand would be in my price range, but I haven't seen this color (daphne blue I think) with a maple neck. Anyone seen one? Thanks. :JAM

That looks like Sonic Blue. A very popular vintage color.

edit:

Went and checked Fender. Only Custom Shop guitars available in that color with maple fretboard.

Looks like Sonic Blue to me as well, I could tell you if I had a serial number.

Here is the rub, the color is very dependant on the top coat though. Lighter colors can suffer terribly. Fender uses polyurethane, it yellows very quickly, Polyester can have many shades dependeng on the maker of the paint but non are really suitable for very light colors. We use our "thin skin" top coat paint on all the light colors (Acrylic urethane), very thin and water white clear. 4K? Are you sure that isnt the LIST price?

You are right, it appears to be a list price. Here's the info from the dealer's site: John Suhr, Classic, Alder, Color "Daphne Blue", Item # GJS320. The dealer, by the way, was very enthusiastic and spoke highly of your product.

It's a very nice looking guitar and it sounds wonderful. My compliments. :AOK

Lately, I'm starting to think Sonic Blue > Daphne Blue...

Looks like a shade of sonic blue. Check out the Classic Player 60's. Here's mine, it's custom shop designed but assembled in Mexico. Doesn't bother me, it plays great and has a great Strat vibe, more so than a couple Anderson Classics, Fender JB, American Deluxe, JV and Hot Rod that I used to own. I paid $750 for mine in a pale sonic blue, although w/o a maple neck but...incredible buy!
