I've emailed this place a few times over the last couple of days...no response...are they still in buisness? Is the process of ordering from them painful???

I just tried to go to their site and it wasn't working like it used to. There used to be an English version of their site and they emailed back right away. I never actually bought anything from them, but they were really helpful and fast in their response. And I've had a few Fender Japan guitars and they're great. Looks like they might not be offering the service anymore.

Keep in mind that if you're in the US or even Europe they'll be several hours ahead time-wise so they'll usually take a day or so to respond (relatively speaking) simply because of the time disparity. Plus I believe they're closed on Wednesdays as well (kinda like a weekend day there) so that will delay. But if you used the e-mail addy that Johan posted above then it should be correct.

I heard that they have been cut off from selling to the US... they had a thread about it on the tdpri a few weeks ago.

Isn't that illegal? I mean...if I have $$ and want to spend it with Ishibashi, shouldn't I be able to do business with them? :jo

In short, no, it's not illegal. It's just a company trying to control the proper, planned global distribution of products carrying its brand. (And possibly Ishibashi's growing tired of the hours needed to answer e-mails from international customers who never buy). In general, buying anything not officially imported by the company is called "grey market." If Ishibashi has stopped exporting to the US, I'm sure there are plenty of others who will offer a grey market service.

But I was hoping to buy one of those 62 Teles from Ishibashi at some point. Oh well.

I believe that it was just in regards to Fender Japan guitars, but I could be wrong (I didn't read up on it too deep). I've read quite a few accounts since then of folks buying from them (different brands) and not having any issues. And besides, there are a whole bunch of other companies who make great Fender'esque guitars in the same price range that losing the ability to buy FJ guitars shouldn't really be a big deal. Granted, they won't be quite the same as they're not really reissues of a specific model. Just my $.02

Funny?? I emailed them just about 3 weeks ago and the reply came in just after one day's wait?

And Noriko is just really polite and nice even when i decline to buy their stuff.

So maybe you want to speak to her instead?

Like what johan said try this address: web-shop@ishibashi.co.jp

You get an answer fairly quickly. Hope my 2 cents had helped. Cheers

I tried to order from them a few months ago. I sent 7 emails, begging them to respond to me and sell me a guitar. I got confirmation that they'd read a few, but never got a reply.

Always had good luck with Miss Noriko @ Ishibashi. Purchased two Japanese-made Tokai's and received great service!

Got a reply a day later, only problem I have had is by the time I get the reply the guitar could have sold in the store/s. I found them very polite and ready to do a deal (without asking for one). I'm now awaiting 8 large brown boxes.

Splashed out, thought I'd get my self one hell of a Christmas present. I ordered:
BC Rich Eagle £57
GIBSON LP STD HERITAGE80
FENDER JAPAN ST71-85TX/NAT
Fernandez/Barney ST TYPE
FENDER JAPAN JB75-90US NAT
Fernandez/Barney Super ST TYPE
Fernandez/Barney Les Paul studio (Joe Perryish)
Fender MEX DX NV TL BLK/M

If this goes well I have also asked them to put a flying V aside for me. Boy this is going to be the longest week of my life, but hopefully will stop my Ebay addiction. I usually pay around £360 for Burny Les Pauls, if you're lucky you can pick them up for under £100 from ISHIBASHI.

Man, that's quite a score ya got there. :) If they ship all of those as fast as they usually do (via EMS) you may very well have them in hand by weeks end. Then again that's one heck of an order to fill. :D

I have bought 2 of the "new " Burny's from them. Made in China now. I bought a Randy Rhoades LP and a John Sykes LP. Both great guitars at their price point. I also bought my Edwards Elp85 from them.
