hi i have a 91 strat plus that has 3 fender gold lace sencors, im looking to replace the bridge pickup with a mini humbucker for a good crunchy rock tone. i dont have any experience with playing a single coil humbucker but would want all 3 pickups to be similiar in output. i need a realy good pickup price doesnt matter. i need to get some good rock tones ala tool, deftones, incubus etc.... but also need the other single coils for some bluesy and jazzy stuff. anyone have experience with a good pickup or brand?

Duncan 'Lil 59 & DiMarzio Pro Track are both very nice low to medium output single coile sized humbuckers. I thought the Pro Track had a little more Jazz to it than the rawness of the 'Lil 59 - just my opinion.

Both nice, but I do feel that the Protrack is a bit more 'bucker like. warm and natural.

This is a great site to listen to .mp3's of various PUP's for the Strat w/different selector switch settings, etc. It may help you to decide.

i put anderson sa2+ (b) & sa2's (n & m) in my g&l legacy special, & they've worked out pretty well for me. as they're hb's, they're dead quiet, they drive amps & fx ped's really well, but do so without losing single coil-like characteristics (i get reasonable "quack" from positions 2 & 4). you do need to spend some time tweaking their heights, but it's well worth it. i got mine from indoor storm, but with anderson's "restructuring" that might get harder, so you may have to trawl ebay for a 2nd-hand set. good luck with your quest.
