No detailed review. Just wanted to say how much I love the Bruno UG30 I just picked up last week. I was looking around for a used one for a while and finally gave up and bought a Fuchs ODS50 SLX (love this amp too!). Of course I find a Bruno for sale a couple weeks later, the day after I asked to be put on a waiting list for a used one at Ultrasound. Didn't have the disposable income, but I had to do and I'm glad I did :AOK
Any UG30 users care to share some settings? For an amp with minimal features you can really get a lot of tones out of it. It's going to take some time to get used to the bass/treble tone interaction. Reverb rep is justified btw.
I'd would also like to add that this amp is pretty damn loud and girthy when pushed. I'm surprised that aren't more rock clips floating around?? The gain surprised me.
I don't have the recommended cab or speakers, but no complaints here through a THD 2x12.
I've said this many times before, but I mean it when I say this amp is a keeper!

Ordered 35 cowtipper last spring from Gene & Ken; best money I spent in last 5 years, no joke; play her hour and half everynight. I know there's probably a dozen other guys out there making similiar quality sounding amps but I'm sure glad a guy I run into in fender shop put me onto Brunos.
And you know, that Bruno makes me feel so good; I'd probably never look at another amp other than a Bruno; UG 30 down the road for sure.
Good deal on the UG 30.

Key control is the treble knob, since that also affects mids and bass - turn it up for scooped tones, down for thicker, bassier tones. Turn the treble (EDIT: I meant Presence) up and the amp will break up sooner. Also, trying turning up the dwell to around 2 or 3:00 and then adjust the mix to taste, you'll get a different tone and response, then try reversing those settings.
Also, try a 5R4 rectifier which will smooth/thicken the amp and get breakup sooner.

I have owned and played many Bruno amps. (I even named the Bulldog! Long story in a bar on queens Blvd. with Tony) But no doubt his best amp and maybe the best amp or all time is the UG 30. http://www.thegearpage.net/board/images/icons/icon14.gif

Thanks Lou! This is helpful. I've listened to your clips many times when researching this amp. To quote another Bruno lover...."VERY NICE!"

i know tone is totally subjective and there are many opinions but these amps (ug 30 w/ reverb) has been getting my attention. How would this compare to a Two Rock Emerald Pro. The TR does the Dumble thing but I'm really more interested in the Fender scooped mid chimey cleans...comments?

There are many here more qualified to answer, but I will say that you can get Fender cleans with this. I haven't directly A/B'd this with my 68' Super Reverb, but when you set the treble and bass both the 9:00 you get a blackfaced tone from the bruno.
When you crank up the volume to 9:00 or so you can use the guitar's volume to range from clean to a very thick OD with great sustain and controlled feedback (which I don't control very well). I don't have a TR, but the Fuchs ODS is somewhat similar from what I've read. The Fuchs is more versatile for sure. but it shares the same sustaining thick OD characteristic as the Bruno. The voicing is different and you can dial in an incredible range of OD tones, unlike the UG30.
I noticed you've been trying to sell the EP. What is it that you don't like or not like enough about this amp? I've heard some great clips and have read nothing but positive feedback on these. If I have the extra $$ I'd pick that up as well.
One more thing I'd like to add about the UG30. Even though it has great touch sensitivity, it makes me sound better as opposed to other touch sensitive amps I've had that magnify every mistake. I have no explanation for this. I'd like to think that I'm just improving.

The UG 30 DOES make you play better! It is that elastic feel, which makes you feel like you can do no wrong! Glad you are digging it, WHAT an amp!!! Try a Fulldrive II for more gain at lower volumes, it is a custom fit to the amp! Glad you are digging it. No better amp made to my ear! :dude

Actually the Fulldrive II & OCD were on my short list of pedals to try. I got one for you. Try the Xotic BB preamp. Sounds awesome through this amp. Even my Keeley modded DS-1 sounds great through it. Crisper than the BB which is more of a smoother sounding OD.

My TR Epro is awesome. I think I just have GAS and I'm always looking to try new stuff. If I sell it I'll probably kick myself later. I've just found myself looking around here and now I'm getting curious about other cool amps. I do dig the Fender cleans but that Epro overdrive is oh so sweet...even if it's not a low gainer, Tag.:moon

If thats the case you might want to consider either going into a little debt or saving for the Bruno because having both wouldn't be a bad thing. Your EP has been haunting me ever since you put it up for sale.
