I've been running power supplies for years but I'm back to batteries. How long should I expect a 9V to last in a Boss DD-3 as long as I remember to unplug the cables when I don't use it? Also, what is the best choice of batteries for longevity for any pedal, in my case a DD-3, Peterson Strobostomp and a wah?

The longest running 9V battery is the Kodak Lithium 9V, they are not cheap, like $10, but they do last the longest. They are also great in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors too and that were you may find them at in the stores, next to those devices.

Dude. . . . and I rarely say that unless I am going to talk about a dollar store (jk). . . I get my 9vs when I need them. . . at THE DOLLAR STORE!!! Usually Panasonic. NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO PROOOOOOOBLEM!!!!!!!!!

I can run a TU-2 of of one for MONTHS. I know a delay will suck-em dry, but. . . . .

THEY'RE A DOLLAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

. . . and I've never tried one in a delay.

I think YOU should A-B them to the MOST expensive 9V you can find and tell us all about it!!!!!

. . . . or not.

I'd be thinking, is there a re-chargeable 9V avaliable somewhere?

I use a DD3 and a cheap battery won't last one 4hr gig. A duracell lasts one gig maybe a little bit of the next one.

Sounds like for at least the DD-3 I should get an AC adaptor, otherwise I'll be going through batteries like wild.

Yup. Delays eat batteries like crazy. Your other alternative is to use/make one of my setups - an 8 battery cluster of NiMH AAs with an adaptor to go from the 9v clip contact to a 2.1mm barrel plug. See my other posts on this. This has solved all my power supply challenges. I have some 2700 mAh AA batteries on the way that'll power my whole array for multiple gigs, though I always recharge in between and carry a spare 8 battery holder.

Why are you dumping the AC power on your pedals in favor of batteries ? I just ordered a 1-spot combo pack because I was fed up of constantly being in doubt as to my batteries "freshness" and constantly worrying if my tone is as good as it can be. Why the switch to batteries ?

I like bluesdoc's method...

Delay's are well known to eat batteries.

Thanks all. I bought a Boss power supply for the pedal. I switched to batteries as I broke my pedalboard down, selling everything off including my Voodoo Labs PedalPower and I'm rolling with only a couple of pedals loose on the floor. I guess one wall wart is okay, keeping the Voodoo Labs would've been overkill.
