Hopefully WE will do a better job than the previous management.

Hopefully they can make some EI 12AX7s that aren't microphonic crap hidden behind gold-plated pins, and aren't $550 each like their 300B's!

LOL! Yeah, a tube under $400 a pop would be refreshing:)

Is it just me, or is it odd that they would buy Ei? I can't see a cork-sniffer company that sells high-dollar directly-heated triodes wanting something like the Ei stuff. Hopefully, they have decided to make some nice, inexpensive US-manufacture 12AX7s and EL84s - that would be great!

I spoke with Charlse Whitener on the Phone a wile back. He was a very nice sounding guy.
He said they would be introducing a number of Guitar Type Tubes ranging from 6L6's to 12AX7's and even KT77's. He said they would be manufacuring here and overseas.
He offered me a Tour of the Factory when they had all their US stuff up and running. I'll have to contact him again and see if that is still available.
If I had to guess at the Cost of any American Made Tubes I would believe it when they were priced very exspensive. Any of you guys that are griping about it ever delt with the EPD?
You would not believe the restrictions on Industrial Manufacturing these days. Is it any wonder we dont hardly make anything over here anymore?
Whats funny is we better start concentrating on alltertive enegry and living on other Planets or the Humar Race will go the way of the Trex and concentrating less on hugging Trees.

Yeah, it does seem ironic. I think the EI factory was headed for a complete shut down if not for a new investor coming along. I guess Charlie was interested in expanding and this seems to present a good opportunity to him. I imagine that he's more quality oriented than the old EI management was. It'd be great if he could produce non microphonic EI 12AX7s. I fear that anyone expecting improved tubes at the old price is hallucinating though.

Right, and less money includes LOSING money;) MORE money includes spending more money to FINALLY make a 12AX7 of which 50% aren't microphonic.
OTM, how pathetic are we to be posting here on Saturday night? :crazyguy

EI made some damn good tubes. I gotta a freakin bunch of em. Thier EL84's are my Favorite EL84's and their 12AX7's are some of the best sounding Preamp Tubes ever was. Yeah they are known for bad tubes so I agree about that but like I said I have a boat load of good sounding EI's right here at the Beasley Palace.
I hope ol Chalrse cranks em out. On their worst day they'll be better than some of the crap thats being pedaled these days.

Shopping, yep, I see what you mean. There was an Ebay guitar amp auction a while back where the seller was ranting about all sorts of stuff including the fact that his wife hated when he walked like he had a club foot, while shopping :D
Just got back from a Sonny Landreth concert. If you haven't checked him out yet, you owe it to yourself. The guy has a legendary slide playing technique.
