Actually...Lee Jackson was one of the early "go to guy" for marshall mods and such...Had his own amp line for awhile too?

he did and his own amp line was distributed by ampeg, at least I thought.

Lee Jackson was one of the mod kings in LA for the hair metal guys. He was modding Marshalls mostly. Jose Arrandando (sp?) and Lee were the guys I had heard of back then who were gian modding Marshalls. Lee then made Metaltronix amps, which were Marshall based. Then he designed an amp for Ampeg that was really good for the money. He did have a short lived Lee Jackson amp line. He supposedly worked for Rhino for a bit, and has launched a pedal line I think recently.

He and I emailed back in 98 on some questions I had and he was real cool and helpful.

Lee designed a lot of cool stuff for Ampeg, did some great mods and such.

Lee Jackson also designed Crates first all tube offering the Stealth GT 50 series amps. While being somewhat cheaply made they really wail! Designed with metal tones in mind and sporting a quad of 6V6's its a strange but cool mix.

I see this Lee Jackson fella has modified a Fender Concert. Now I'm curious to see if some of the mod's he describes in the video are what I've done to my amp. I see one of them is to get the noise out of the reverb. I figured that out, but wonder if he found an even better way? Anyway, anybody have the video and can comment?

Cheers!

I've owned a couple of the Ampeg things he designed (one had a key switch), also a Metaltronix and a Lee Jackson. I've also heard some of his Marshall mods. Definitely of the spandex/big hair/scooped mids/'80s metal ilk.

Ah yeah, but back when this was done it was just another Marshall-not a collectors item. The thing probably sounds killer too.

I haven't seen the vids...can't help you there.

Lee Jackson is known for his hair band era Marshall mods, but I've heard some truly nice sounding Fender-ish tones from his amps and his Active Gain OD pedal sounded pretty good to me.
