i have a peavey valve king, purchased new in the summer that i replaced the tubes in shortly after i bought it as i wasn't crazy about the stock sound or quality of tubes. i put in 2 brand SED 6l6 power tubes (the color is good on them) and to replace the 3 ax7s i bought a bunch of used (not nos tubes) cause what the heck..they were cheap. if the condition of them is as advertised (from various sellers) they all have some life left to them. that was about 4 months ago and i've played the amp almost every day since but it has not moved from my basement...i noticed recently that on power up, there is some noise..almost like radio static with occasional crackle and after about 2 or 3 minutes it disappears. (my practice for warmup and cooldown of the tubes is to turn the power on, let it warm up for about 10 minutes before i switch on the standby and then start playing..and reverse for shutoff..the manual says 2 minutes warmup so i can't always honestly say i give it 10 minutes warmup/cooldown..sometimes 4 or 5 minutes..is it possible that one of the ax7's is crapping out..i hope it's not the power tubes cause they were new..the ax7s..well, you get what you pay for and i didn't pay much and i have a bunch on hand i can swap in that are at least good brand quality. main thing is that it's not some other problem with the amp. with the clean channel on, historically, the only noise unless i have it turned way up is a bit of a power hum..otherwise, it's been pretty quiet. thoughts and thanks in advance as always.

you might want to try swapping out the 12ax7s you're using for the stock ones and see if the problem is still there. and if that doesnt work take a pencil, and while the amp is on, tap the power tubes and see if theyre microphonic (you'll hear the taps through the speaker). if they are id change them, and if youve played it constantly for like 4 months, they might be worn out, although that is alot of playing time

i'd say a couple hours a day for 4 months maximum..i'll try the swap out first..thanks:)
