My amp has 6v6gt in it, what' the difference between the G, GT, GTY?
Can any be used for the most part (height/space taken into account)?
Common tonal differences, etc?
Thanks for the help:dude

NO generalizations about tone. Brand A's 6V6G might be brighter than brand B's 6V6GTY, but no other generalizations apply. Treat each one as a seperate entity.
They're all interchangeable.

Y = refers to special base material, usually for vibration/voltage considerations

That's micanol, right? I had read that micanol is less conductive to RF, making it a better material to use in radios (which is where 6V6GTYs were used for the military). Sound like BS or.....?

Yes! Among other things. "Micanol" is a mica-filled phenolic. Forty-five years ago RCA engineers wrote that, of the four base materials RCA commonly utilized, micanol was superior/best for high temp, good dialectric strength/high frequency dc resistance (so preferred for high freq use), resistance to arcing. OTOH, it was much more difficult to mold, and more expensive.
