I'll answer you with a brief overview. If you would do me a favor and
post it on the forums you participate on I'd appreciate it. More
detailed info will be available shortly and you will be receiving a
complete overview of this new amplifier, the new Memphis Series combos
and heads, and the new AR Series speaker models in the mail.

Sig:X is the new 3 channel amplifier making it's debut in prototype from
at the 2007 NAMM show.

Please note that the NAMM prototype photo that is now circulating on the
internet is still in "concept" form. The front panel control layout and
functions are mostly complete as shown, but the cabinet front design and
the logo graphics are not yet engraved in stone.

The design goal was to produce a player friendly amp in terms of control
function, touch sensitivity and power amp response. Players who
appreciate the unique VHT voice but find the CL and UL amps to be
unforgiving will appreciate the increased saturation and natural
compression of the Sig:X design. The Sig:X delivers a strong feature set
which is extremely functional and intuitive to operate. Several tone
tailoring options make it possible to cover a wide range of tonal
terrain, making inclusion of the VHT Graphic EQ unnecessary. The lack of
graphic and the use of a KT88 pair for 100 watt power (something we've
been doing for years with the 2/90/2 power amp), allows us to offer a
versatile, full-featured amp at an attractive and attainable price.

Features include:

Three independent channels with separate tone controls.

Three-Position PRE EQ VOICING switch for each channel allowing custom
tailored tone shaping.

Exclusive VHT GAIN I/GAIN II Voicing and Overdrive configuration with
Channel Assignable, Footswitchable, Variable Gain Boost.

MORE/LESS MODE (Gain Stacking) for each High-Gain channel to select 3 or
4 Tube Gain stages on selected channel (channel assignable as on CL/UL
models).

New POWER SHIFT feature takes VHT's exclusive Enhance Mode Technology to
a new level of flexibility. Enhance Mode, a standard rear panel feature
on the Fifty/Twelve Combo, Fifty/ST Head and Fifty/CL Head since 1995,
now resides on the front panel as POWER SHIFT, allowing channel
assignable Tube/SS Rectifier and 100W/60W output power selection
simultaneously with a deceptively simple, channel assignable user
interface - a single mini toggle switch on each channel.

New SIDEBAND feature gives you fast, focused power amp response in 100W Mode and increased power supply lag and "Ghost Note" harmonics
in 60W Mode for rich, expressive power amp
response at any playing volume. SIDEBAND mode changes automatically with POWER SHIFT switch setting on each cannel.

Two dedicated sets of VHT exclusive Depth and Presence controls, one set
for the Clean channel and one set for the LEAD and RHYTHM channels. Each
set of Depth and Presence controls are voiced for their specific
channels. In addition the LEAD/RHYTHM set has 2 different voicing
profiles which automatically change for low gain and high gain modes.

Footswitchable True-Bypass, Series/Parallel Effects Loop with level
controls.

True 100 Watt RMS Output power with a pair of Premium Matched KT88 Power
Tubes.

Although the MSRP on Sig:X has not been firmly established as yet, we
believe buyers will be extremely pleased. In addition, the price will
include the footswitch and cover along with a 5 year limited warranty.
Delivery is targeted for April.

That's about all I can tell you for now.

With Best Regards,

Steve

I saw and heard the prototype at NAMM, interesting but not enough to stop me from ordering a Deliverance 120. I don't need three channels, just one killer channel will do me fine for this amp.

OK, no problem.
I was emailed this information which is not available as of yet. I only requested it as a VHT artist since there was a lot of curiosity about the amp.
I am just trying to reduce speculation and let people know exactly what the amp is all about. It was not copied from a website, but from my email.
I am not paid for anything by VHT, I simply believe in their products and designs and wanted to share accurate information with the forum members.
Thanks,
Steve

It's cool, I understand and honestly - this is no personal thing with me towards you or VHT. It's simply unfiltered sales information and regardless of the source, it is a sales message. Answering questions about sales after posting unfiltered sales info just equals what it does. Check your PM for more detail.

How do the cleans compare to dialing in a D120 for it's best cleans. With my D120 I was able to get very good, in fact excellent cleans, but a touch more bloom and chime would make it even better. Does the advanced circuitry of the SIG:X get this?

How big is the first run of these going to be. Limited quanities at first, or the motherload find them anywhere senario?

I think this VHT Sig has the best clean sounds of any VHT I've ever played through. Stevie took Mark Robinson and I through it at NAMM, alone in the booth, for nearly 1/2 hour. It's a dazzler. You can see from the knobs and switches that there are several voices in both channels. I actually really liked every voice in both channels.

Part of the great sound is the new speakers Stevie has designed and is building. There are, I think, 4 models of new speakers: for the 4x12 straight cab w/ hi power handling, 4x12 slant cab - a little lower power handling, then a 50w and a 30w for the new open backed cabs. I only heard the 4x12 slant cab, and I was very impressed with the new speakers.

I wrote in another thread that I got a great sound on the neck pickup of Stevies CS Strat, and was really surprised that when I switched to the bridge pickup, the amp still sounded great and needed no tweaking at all to match the bridge p/u and neck p/u. It wasn't too bright or anything, it sounded fantastic.

Hope this helps, Dana O.

It was great to see Steve F. as always. He put me through the paces of the prototype as well as every other amp in the demo room.

The new protoype was one of my favs at the show. Simply amazing for all styles of playing.
Like Steve F says, its more forgiving then the UL series. I personally like that.
The Sig X really breathes and is very touch sensitive like an old vintage tube amp should be. Killer clean, and crunch tones. The High gain is everything you would expect from a VHT.

The Sig X and the D120 are my personal favorites.
Way to go Steve F and everybody at VHT!

Looks like a winner for sure!
Can you get a touch of breakup on the clean channel
with the boost on?
I really don't like a clean/CLEAN channel, but a nice
cleaner channel with a hair of breakup sounds awesome!

Thanx,

Well, to me, it made so much sense to be able to employ all the great sounds and feel from the Pittbull 45, Cl, Ul, and Deliverance, all into one design...sort of like a summary of all VHT amps in one model....It's really brilliant, and from what Splatt says, it's sonically for real!!!

Splatt, How would you compare it to the Deliverance 120?
I come from the old Plexi camp and love that kind of open crunch and midrange.
I also need serious amounts of gain, saturation and definition for my detuned metal project.
Is this an amp that will cover these bases?

Not splatt here...
But, after playing the Sig proto at the last Winter NAMM, I'd say mos def yes.
Tons of gain/saturation/definition with increased control over the feel/response of same.

Others could better answer your question re: the D120 comparison...

Copied from the VHT User's forum:

Steve asked me to release the production Sig:X pics here before official release...so you saw it here first!

Three independent channels with separate tone controls.

Three-Position PRE EQ VOICING switch for each channel allowing custom tailored tone shaping.

Exclusive VHT GAIN I/GAIN II Voicing and Overdrive configuration with channel assignable, footswitchable or manual (front panel) gain boost.

MORE/LESS MODE (Gain Stacking) for each High-Gain channel to select 3 or 4 Tube Gain stages on selected channel (channel assignable as on CL/UL models).

POWER SHIFT feature, a single mini toggle switch on each channel enables channel assignable Tube/SS Rectifier and 100W/40W output power selection (operates like ENHANCE MODE on Fifty/CL/ST).

Patented DYNAMIC SENSING feature (introduced in the GP3 pre) tracks string attack/decay to optimize sustain and note detail.

Two dedicated sets of Depth and Presence controls, one set for the Clean channel and one set for the LEAD and RHYTHM channels. Each set of Depth and Presence controls are voiced for their specific channels.

Footswitchable True-Bypass, Series/Parallel Effects Loop with level controls. Suitable for using the loop as a volume boost.

Smart Foot-controller selects LEAD, RHYTHM, CLEAN, BOOST and EFFECTS. Recalls previously selected combination of channel and boost/loop. Footswitch Boost and Effects functions can then used for gain boost (BOOST) or volume boost (EFFECTS) or both. Very cool with the recall feature.

One 16 ohm output jack is provided for connection to a 16 ohm cabinet. Two additional parallel jacks with a two position 8/4 ohm selector switch are provided for connection to the following:

One 8 ohm cab @ 8 ohms
Two 16 ohm cabs @ 8 ohms

A larger red font doesn't mean
ACTUAL RETAIL PRICE!

Guess you'll have to wait until they hit stores. However, a quick search of Musician's Friend shows that they usually take 20% off the MSRP for VHT gear. That would make the Sig X a smidgen over $2100. You may be able to find better deal with other dealers, but I'm betting you can't find them lower than $2100 at first since the demand is so high.
