I wish he tools and staffs up and becomes a force like TA and Suhr. What a treat that would be for the guitar world.
C'mon John!!

... a fascinating insight to John's background and a fine example of natural talent filtering to the top.

You had a lot to say and it was definitely worth listening to! Besides, not many of us get to shake hands with Paul McCartney. :dude

Take care John and all the best to you on the new chapter of your life.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Glide,
There's a whole lot of waiting going on in my shop right now. Most things are in the midst of their cure cycle. But here's a couple of pics that you may enjoy... especially the first one... it's your quilt top!
The rest of the shots are the body blanks and neck components in cure or queue for glue-up. I hope that helps stop the shaking for awhile!

ThePK,
Thanks, man. For me, success is hapiness, not money or "stuff". And I'm pretty freakin' happy!

Glide,
You're welcome! Nice top, eh? I'll e-mail you more as the process moves along.

Guitarpentry,
Thanks for the kind words, and all I can say about you wanting to build guitars is to keep on woodchuckin'! That's the only way to master it, man, do it over and over again. I can't tell you how many guitars I've thrown away over the years. Even at the Custom Shop we'd have to destroy our mistakes every now and then. Nothing quite gets rid of the frustration like bustin' up a $3,000 guitar out in the parking lot... but it kinda makes you cry too. Hopefully most of that is behind me (he says wishfully).

Pai,
Yeah... the "F" hole guitar story is pretty funny. The guitar itself would make a sailor blush though... pretty darn graphic. But very funny!

Out in the parking lot doing R&D for the relic process. :D You could have used a woodchipper and made some museum grade mulch.

PS: Looking forward to the CS Scrapbook page on your website! :dude

Kevin,
Hopefully the CS scrapbook will happen soon. I'm waiting for my son Adam to write the program to allow me to upload all the images and copy myself. Otherwise he'd be there forever with all the stuff I have. He's just been buried with his own life... imagine that? Plus I have to admit, I've been buried working on these new P-1's. It doesn't leave me a lot of time for photo scanning and editing. I've spent the last week building a small wood drying kiln for my shop. A lot of the wood I've been buying in for the guitars is still a bit wet for my taste, so I figured I should spend the time and $$$ to build one. It's a pain in the butt, but it's almost done, and I think it'll be great for the guitars. Sound doesn't travel well under water ;)

Super congrats John. I have had a number of your guitars. My 40th Aniv. Bill Carson Custom 1954 is my fave. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v38/pnxlndco/100_3092.jpg

phoenix,
That is a really nice guitar, and it was built to commemorate a great guy. As I've sure you've already heard. Bill Carson passed away this last week. He had a lot to do with the guitar industry as we know it... and he grew huge watermelons too! What a great cat to have known. May he rest in peace and be jammin' with the best of them. My heart goes out to Susan...
