I randomly went to Guitar Center today and was looking around. Low and behold they had a massive clearance of guitars going on. I found a Fender 70's Classic Strat for $310! They're regular $669! It's an Olympic White with Maple Fretboard...and they're going to set it up with 10's for me.

Seriously, I could NOT pass this up! Such an insaannneee deal. Throw some Woodstock Fralin's in there, and I'll be Jimi! (Yeah right...)

Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn! Great score, congrats! Those classic series are really well made, kudo's to Fender.

I have a 70's classic sunburst/maple neck, and I absolutely love it. I've owned it for over five years and it has never needed an adjustment or any work that I couldn't do myself. I only wish the neck wasn't so slim. Congrats on a great guitar...personally I think these strats can stand up to any of the entry level American series.

I put some Nickel Rockers 10's on there and it sounds and plays schhhweet.

Nice man!

Did you notice it's missing one of the string tees?

...not that you NEED it though...

And probably a much better guitar than most of the real '70s strats out there.

Every vintage 70s strat I played was a dog.. wonky necks & thin, harsh-sounding, buzzy p-ups - a very dark period in Fender's history. My local music shop wasn't even stocking them at the time!

I took it off. :) High end Strats don't even have them. I took it off on my H1 too.

Also, I would've been seriously insane to not buy this thing. I talked to the guy and he said it was at cost, they were just liquidating stuff.

$310 WITH a case? Without that'd be a sweet deal. I need another Strat like I need a hole in the head, but for $310... I'd be owning it, too!

Nah the case was mine. :)

Hmm...I forgot how LOUD these pickups are. I used to have this same exact model except Natural with rosewood fretboard. They hum like nobody's business!

I think I'll put Woodstock Fralin's or Red House SD's in there or something...
