From this past Friday night with my band, Revival, using a recently aquired Gibson CS-336:

BECAUSE WE'VE ENDED AS LOVERS

Amp is a 93 Fender Blues Deluxe with Celestion V30 speaker.

Effects are a stock Voodoo Sparkle Drive, stock Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer and stock old Boss DM2 Analog Delay.

Enjoy!

Very, very nice, man. The whole band sounds great, & your tones are full & phrasing is spot on. You could be a little louder, though (ain't that always the truth!)

Thanks, BG.

Actually, guitar mix was probably better than it seemed, but where I had the single stereo recording mic placed was a bit out of the amp's line of fire.

Nice, man! Played that 356 like it should be played!

I am learning more about the variety of incredible tones that guitar provides every time I pick it up.

My first real guitar back in the 70's, after a series of cheap, no-name, 60's imports, was a 335. The CS 336 is like a 335 on steroids.

Hey Guitar Dave T,

Thanks for posting this! This just made me want to consider getting a keyboard player to join my band live. You guys really played that with sensitivity and class. Well done man!

Great job, G. Dave. One of my all time favorite songs. I'm thinking about a 336 that I can't afford, you ain't helping me a bit! LOL

John C: Are keyboard players plentiful in your area? They're are quite a few good ones around here, but most don't want to do unpaid rehearsals.

Strat335: I'm still in the honeymoon stage with the 336, but it's the best honeymoon I've been on.

Very nice, man! Great tone and feeling, and this song is not the easiest I know...

Thanks, BP. This is one of those songs I learned, note-for-note, almost 20 years ago. On this particular clip, the only deviations were not necessarily due to artistic license, but momentary brain farts. I just forgot a bit here and there.

Today, the only songs I still try to do note-for-note are those where I lack experience in a particular style.

Eventually, those notes become part of a bigger vocabulary that morphs into my own style, but at the end of the day, it's all, as Martin Mull put it, "Licks off a record that I stole". <g>

Your version reminds me of the one on the "secret policeman" LP or something like that.
It was Jeff Beck with Eric Clapton playing at a show for Amnesty International if I remember well. By far the best version of this song I know.
Jeff Beck has this magic touch... Many players can play the notes, but not so much with emotion.
I'm sure you know what I mean. ;)
