Is this a good idea for lower volume break up? Would there be a rectifier change as well? Would the bassman still sound like a bassman? I've read guys have done this. Thanks for any reply.

To be safest and in the interest of lowering power (and increasing break up) the most, switching to a 5R4GB rectifier would be best. This has been done numerous times.
ANY change will change the tone of the amp. Isn't that the intent? ;)

Yeah, thanks Mike. We have already done that together. I had read a few things here and there about guys doing that, I sure don't want to loose that bassman sound. I thought you would end up here with the answer. I should have just e-mailed you.
