I'm wondering if I'll need to have the bias adjusted on my Victoriette if I put a new pair of power tubes in. It's the 6L6 model.

I just got this amp recently. Does anyone have any tube recommendations?

Also, I'm looking to get a little more headroom out of the amp and I'm looking into getting new speakers. Right now it has a pair of Jensen P10Rs (the new ones). It sounds great as is, I just need a little more clean volume and maybe a touch more bass response. Any suggestions?

It's cathode biased, so you don't HAVE TO have it rebiased, though the sound of the amp might changed based on how much current the new set of tubes has compared to the existing set. The amps can be rebioased by changing out a rtesistor, but I[ve never known anyone who does that. Most just look for a set of tubes that sound like their last, favored set.

I have wanted a new set of speakers for the amp since I bought it. Here's where I'm at:

I love the edge of breakup tone, but it's too quiet to gig with, and any louder and the amp loses body and gets a little harsh.

I hear eminence Ragin Cauns are awesome, but they're much louder. So you'll get more headroom , but overdrive might only come at unacceptable volume levels.

Many folks recommend the Weber 10a125, which is a little louder supposedly, but I haven't tried them. What's more, they will be very expensive to try.

I hope you enjoy that amp. I know mine's gonna be perfect once I get the right speaker.

FYI: I emailed Mark on this and he said the sweetest is the Celestion Blue Alnico. I'm liking it that way.

I'm going for the Weber 10a125s. I'll let you know how they sound, maybe even record some comp sound clips...
