Just a little shout-out to Catalinbread effects. I picked up one of the new Silver Kiss pedals and it LOVES the Thorn Jr. Custom P-90's!!!! As I've said before, all of the finishes on the Jr. 90's rock hard, but the Brazilian Burst holds a special place in my heart! ;) Enjoy! :)

Congrats on the guitar and the pedal. Ron's Brazilian Burst's are pretty special. :)

Great looking guitar :) Just wondering if you intentionally left out a picture of the neck joint/heel area of the guitar :)

Haha nope it was kind of cold still yesterday so I didn't want to keep the guitar outside TOO long... in a rush I suppose! I'll snap another one the next time I get a chance. The neck joint on the Junior Ninety is a thing of beauty! :drool

There's something really special about this finish that just really gets me every time I look at it (and I've looked at it a LOT). BTW, this may be a dumb question, but why is it called a "Brazilian Burst"?

Thanks fellas! The guitar does most of the work, that finish is hyper-photogenic (even with the fact that it looks better in person!) so making it look good isn't too hard! ;)
GT - You should have yours soon, right? Oh man... I'm sure I don't have to tell you how excited you should be but seriously... this is one of THE greatest (if not THE greatest!) guitars I have ever touched. I've been running it through my Silver Kiss into the VX module on my Egnater and it SCREAMS Texas Blues! :)
Larry - You know how sweet Ron's finishes are in person sir, not to mention how well they photograph. My pictures STILL don't do justice to the beauty of a Thorn guitar! :dude Btw, this nitro smells SO good when you open the case... does nitro ever completely "dry" or does it always stay like that? The finish is sinking in nicely... and it's only a month or so old now? Crazy!
Jim - I'd have to ask Ron to find out the exact reasoning behind the name, all I know is that Brazilian burst is so sexy and classy that as soon as I heard I could score this guitar with that finish it was a done deal! :AOK
For the brazilian burst name, see here: http://p092.ezboard.com/fthornnewsanddiscussionpagefrm10.showMessage?topic ID=123.topic
The first brazilian burst: http://www.thornguitars.com/images/gallerypics/046-10.jpg
The burst was supposed to match the color of the Brazilian neck -- hence the name. At least that's my recollection.

Ah, there you go! Your Thorn trivia for the day has been satisfied! Thanks JDJ! :AOK
What kind of bodywood is that, it looks like Black Limba from here.
Sweet!

Yessir, 100% correct. It's Black Limba for the body and the neck is slightly flamed Black Limba... and it is a tone monster!! :)

Mine's about a month away. These are special guitars. I dont mind the wait as long as I can sit and drool over these photos. Ron has been amazing to deal with. He answers all my crazy questions. The guy's a real class act. IMO :dude

who's making the Alnico 90's? Would love to find some for a project I have in mind.

Ron & Co. make them themselves for this specific guitar. But before you ask, at least at the moment no you can't get them outside of the Junior Ninety. They do sound killer though.
Scale length is @ 25".

Thanks -e! Yeah they are a custom wind from the Thorn camp and they sound AMAZING!!! Best P-90's I've ever heard, and although I haven't heard tons, I doubt I will hear any that beat them. Very versatile! Jr 90's kick some major booty! :BEER

It's cool Dave, we didn't end up getting together after all. Something came up so Bruce said he wanted to meet up another day that wouldn't be so busy. There will be plenty of opportunities I'm sure! :AOK
