I have an old Musicman 4X12 cab that I'm restoring, and I'm loading it with Greenbacks. How do I wire four 8 ohm speakers to get 16 ohms, or can I ?

To my knowledge you can't make all 4 work and get a net impeadance of 16ohms.

You could do series-parallel or parallel-series and get 8ohms.

Wiring all in parallel will get you 2ohms.

Wiring all in series will get you 32ohms.

A possible solution could be to wire each half of the cab separately (like Mesa Boogie does in some models) and have two 16ohm halves.

If you do this and operate only 1/2 the cab, your other two speakers will act similar to passive radiators and that will change your tone a bit. I suspect that the bass may be a bit more floppy near the resonant frequency of the enclosure.

Greenbacks are available in 16 Ohms (if it's not too late). You can arrange these to get a 16 Ohm total.

Does your amp/head have switchable output impedance, say 16 or 8 Ohms?

Thanks, no it doesn't have switxhable impedance. It is too late, so I'll wire it 8 ohms.
