His guitars look INCREDIBLE, but I never read much about him. Anyone own one and what to tell us how great they sound and play?

I've had this one since last November, it is perfection! Plays and sounds great, and attention to detail is all there! David is great to deal with too!http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y285/joek86/53.jpg

Myka's Sungazer is one of the most visually stunning guitars I've seen in years. Bet it sounds real nifty too.

I played a Dragonfly before.
Very nice instrument!
David is a skilled luthier and he makes some top notch instruments.

What are the small holes bunched up in the upper horn?

Also, have you thought of a price?

I really like Douglas', KK's and Carltone's guitars. They are all different but very striking. What kind of top is on yours Carltone?

David Myka is the man... I can't say enough about the most positive guitar experience I've ever had. Worth every penny and then some...
The playability and sound are as amazing as the look. Every detail is perfect...

I was thinking it might be Claro Walnut but the reddish streaks in the wood confused me a bit. I feel like an idiot because I didn't even notice in your first picture that there were no controls on the top. Very interesting. I don't think I have ever seen controls placed there before. Wouldn't work for every style of play but that's what makes it custom.

Those sunfish (or whatever it is he calls them) are super. Maybe someday I can justify one.

David is working on two guitars I ordered a couple months ago . One is a solid body all Madagascar rosewood model , strings thru the body , with 3 Lollar P-90's and a hand rubbed oil finish .

The other is a Semi-Arch top made with a red spruce top , Madagascar rosewood neck and a lacewood body , with 3 humbuckers and rear tail piece .

I should get the solid body in a couple of weeks .

I had David Smith at Bluetron amps make me a special amp for this one .
It is centered around a set of GEC KT-88 output tubes and uses Sylvania preamp tubes for that sweet clean I love so much . I went over to his shop last night and played it for the first time . Man it is the SH_t !!!
What a great amp . I love his custom work .

After I receive Davids guitar , I'll carry it over to Bluetron and have Smitty voice the amp to those Lollar P-90's .

I don't know if mine will be as pretty as the ones you guys have , but I'll bet it will sound great . Those pictures of Myka guitars on this thread are incredable .

Man... don't worry... the best part of David's work (IMO) is his attention to details. Your guitar will be so perfectly formed at all the joints, woodworking, etc... that you will blown away by the beauty of that work alone, regardless of the wood choices you make. The nice wood is just a bonus as far as I'm concerned.
Wait till you feel the neck! Superb!!!

its a mic... used for feedback. ripped the idea from david torn's tesla and koll guitars. with the right effects and some practice you can elicit some pretty good tones from it.

as for price... not sure. im still thinking about whether or not im going to sell it. but i dont wanna turn this into a f/s ad.

I'm not usually one for 'flashy' guitars, but that is one of the most beautiful instruments I've ever seen. Ever. Anywhere.

Thanks for the compliments Larry. The sonic range of this beauty is something to behold, lots of variety with the mini-switches, and more importantly its such an inspiring instruments.
