1) Bought a 60's reissue mex strat that was loaded with Fralins and very quiet.
2) Put in a set of Custom Shop 69 p/u's and wired all grounds to the back of the Vol pot and the white leads to the appropriate spots on the switch.
3) I now have a really bad grounding bzzzz that is awful when not touching the strings and still there when I do...even in the 2/4 positions.
4) My Highway 1 Tele does NOT make nearly the same amount of noise so it's not the "environment".
Can't figure out what I did that would cause this to occur...any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!!!!

Is there a ground wire attached to the trem claw?

69's are not RWRP so they'll still have the noise in all positions. Maybe a cold solder joint? Check the threm claw ground too. All it takes is one little thing out of place or touching something it shouldn't.

Check to see that the wire leading to the spring claw is still attached. Usually, that wire goes from the spring claw to the ground lug on the jack. If that got disconnected, you'll have this problem.

Thanks!
I am sure that the ground wire to the spring claw in the back IS attached but I need to see where it is connected at the other end.
I KNOW it is NOT conntected to the ground on the input jack as there are only the standard 2 wires going there...IS this the place it should terminate...input jack ground?
All the ground wires from the PU's are going to the back of the volume knob and believe there is a daisy chain from there to the other ground points across the pots/switch.
Are the 54 CS units LESS noisy? I was told that the 69's are the same as what is in the Custom Shop 60's strat and the one I played did not have this problem. They DO sound good though the bzzz is driving me nuts.
More info is of course appreciated!

It's been a little while since I modded one of my Strats, but I seem to remember the ground wire from the claw being soldered to the back of the volume pot.

The Strat I had apart the other day (a CS 65NOS) had a lead from the spring claw to the ring lug on the jack. It can go to the jack or the volume pot casing. If it goes to the jack, you don't have to worry about yanking it out if you remove the pickguard to work on the electronics.
