I’ve been asking Fender questions lately and my search is over. Just bought a Blonde Deluxe Reverb Reissue. It is a model not listed on the Fender website. It comes with a Jensen P12Q Alnico speaker which is different that the ceramic C12K that comes in the regular black DRRI. I’ve only spent a few hours with it but I like it a lot. It has the tone I am looking for at low to medium volumes.
I compared it to the clean channel on my Traynor YCV 40T 2x10 which has been upgraded with JJ tubes. The Traynor can hold its own against the DRRI ‘s normal channel very well with the Traynor’s reverb off. I have to scoop the EQ by boosting the treble and bass and cutting the mids but it is there with the DRRI. But once I switch to the DRRI vibrato channel or turn up the Traynor reverb, the contest is over. The Fender reverb is lush and warm while the Traynor just cuts the sparkle right out of the tone. The Traynor has an Accusweep 3 spring but SS circuitry which kills it. The Fender vibrato is OK but a little choppy compared to my Dano tuna melt. But it is nice having it in the amp. All previous report are with the volume of the DRRI on 4, Traynor on 3.5. I am happy
I got the DRRI but a budget giiger would do great with the Traynor if they left the reverb off. Plus the Traynor has a drive channel.
