I know. . . it sounds like something from . . . you know.
What I REALLY need is help with the velcro for my Boss and Ibanez pedals. The bottoms are mostly rubber, and the stuff that came with the Pedaltrain doesn't bond real well with these pedals. Over a short time, with any decent temperature or humidity changes, the pedal comes right off my board leaving a trail of goo that looks like rubber cement. It does an awesome job of locking to it's counterpart though:mad:
Any recommendations?
Buy one of these mounting kits from ebay:
MOUNTING KITS (http://cgi.ebay.com/PEDALBOARD-MOUNTING-KIT-FOR-7-BOSS-DUNLOP-ETC-PEDALS_W0QQitemZ200085443515QQihZ010QQcategoryZ414 12QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Install them on your pedal then use them as anchors for those plastic cable ties.

Can you remove the rubber base? I have a couple of Danelectro pedals that have rubber bases and they were easy to remove revealing a metal base to which I could adhere the velcro.

Or, you could buy some heavy-duty velcro from a hardware store, which is what I did. That stuff is so strong that you don't need to blanket the pedal with the velcro. For the Boss pedals, I cut the velcro in strips and placed it on the rubber, not the sticker, so when it came time to sell, the velcro peeled off (somewhat easily) without removing the sticker.
That make sense?

I've heard of a method where you remove the bottom plate, put the velcro on the inside of the plate, flip it over and screw it back on. It leaves the sticker and the rubber untouched and gives you a flat surface to stick the velcro on.
I've never tried this but it's an idea to try...

You can just peel off the rubber base. I have an old Boss DM2 and I didn't really want to hurt its collectability (what if I decide to sell it), so I just took the bottom from another non-collectable Boss pedal (I'm sure you have one lying around), I switched their base plates and took the rubber off. Problem solved.

Yeah, that too.. Great idea. I did this on my wah pedal.

I've actually been looking for some heavy-duty velcro at my local Home Depot, but have been unable to find the 3M (or anything equivalent). I'm thinking maybe Michael's art supplies. . ..
Oh, and BART - that is an excellent suggestion. . . 'cept I use a Pedaltrain, and that would mean driving those screws through the metal frame. I am going to refrain from that for now. . . .

Flipping the base of the FX and sticking the velcro on that side is an excellent idea. It's less hassle and inexpensive.
But no, I'm not suggesting that you drill holes. I was saying that when you install the kit. they'll have these tiny winglike anchors sticking out of their sides, right? You may now keep them in place by tying cable ties over those tiny wings and around the pedalboard's rung.

with my board, the glue kept peeling off the Velcro loop side...
I went and ordered item # 9489K792 from mcmaster.com
It's a 2" x 10' product with life of 500 pulls.
Really sticks good...can hold my heavy PB in the air without any problems.
Here's a list of MC item numbers for rolls 2" wide:
5' ----- 9489K775 ----- $4.50 per Length
10' ---- 9489K792 ------ 7.88 per Length
15' ---- 9489K654 ----- 10.19 per Length
30' ---- 9489K222 ----- 19.73 per Length
50' ---- 9489K844 ----- 30.23 per Length
75' ---- 9489K223 ----- 39.53 per Length
This stuff holds onto boss pedals and even the small area of my WD7 rubber pads without any problem. I even have it mounted under my Magicstomp which really gets warm after a while and the stuff sticks in place still...
Its almost like this stuff is made by 3M

I dont have any collectable Boss pedals so I just pulled the rubber off, stuck it to the waxie plastic from the velcro and put that back in its box.

That's what I do, very small rectangular strips around the rubber on the bottom (avoiding the sticker) and they hold fine. A little rubbing alcohol takes off the adhesive that stays behind after you remove the velcro. The industrial strength stuff holds like a champ.

When i had this prob with a ts-808 i heard of a great tip.Any old bike chains around?maybe a local shop? ask them to break a few links and you will have some of the mounting tabs as shown in the e bay auction for free. The flip the plate idea was also brillant.
