Having owned 2 PRS already, and not having owned (or played) a Suhr, I'm getting tempted to pick up a Pro Series to see what all the talk is about. I understand the Suhr is more of a strat than the PRS would be.

My question is that as a Suhr Pro Series can be had for $1650 - $1750 and a new PRS Custom or McCarty starts at about $1800, which is the better guitar? They are both pretty close in price. Is the quality/build better on a Suhr? Also, which is more versatile and easier to play etc? Are they too different to compare?

If anyone here own both PRS and Suhr guitars could they tell me what they like/dislike about each guitar? Thanks.

seems like an apples oranges comparison where 'sound quality' is concerned... both are excellent quality guitars though i have limited experience w/ suhr

What are you looking for in said guitar? Suhr's are up to the hype. I have one, and just bought another. If you want good single coils ound with the versatility of a humbucker in the bridge, go for it. They are a hard value to beat. THe craftsmanship is top notch and the V60 LP pickups are awesome. They also auto split in the 4 position, I think. You can't beat a single coil fo0r single coil tone. But, if you can live with the compromise and you like PRS... go for it.

Never tryed a PRS but I've had my Pro since last Sept. so the honeymoon period is over. Now it's a marriage made in heaven! The tone in all 5 switch positions have very distinct differences and with the humbucker makes the Pro an all around versatile guitar. Great Strat tones! The guitar sounds amazing acoustically unplugged as well. I have a Fender American Strat w/ Lollar pups that I love dearly but I find myself playing my Pro more for the versatility. Suhr makes a special guitar.

Totally different guitars. I've owned both Suhrs and PRSes, and I believe the quality on both is top-notch. You're not going to go wrong with a Suhr unless you're hoping it'll be something it's not.

Do you mean a compromise in tone, or compromise in build quality?

'Which is better, the corvette, or the 4WD Tahoe'

Um...which do you need?

The crux of it really. Both are great guitars.

I meant the lack of actual single coil sound. All the PRS guitars I've had have been good quality. That being said, I haven't had one in a while. And, the build qualiy, fit and finish on my Suhr is impeccable.
