Howdy,

I'm trying to replace the stock busted reverb tank in a Crate V1512. It's a Belton medium delay short tank 2-spring type with a 150 ohm input and 2250 output (insultated input, grounded output).

I tried an Accutronics long delay long-tank 2 spring type with the same specs (4BB3C1B), but can't get more than the tiniest amount of verb with the control maxed.

As an experiment, I tried an Accutronics 8BB2A1B medium delay 3-spring short tank with a 190 ohm input and 2575 ohm output (BOTH GROUNDED), and that works very well, if not overkill on the cathedral effect.

Am I doing something wrong, or does somthing need to be changed in the amp circuit when going from short to long tanks?

bump - any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like one of the connecting cables or plugs is busted too, and when you use the tank with grounded input, the ground connection on the input lets the signal through.

Thanks! So, should I check the input wire cable at the plug end and PCB end for shorts?

I'd check it for a broken ground connection rather than a short, but yes, it won't do any harm to generally just check everything about the cables.

Hmmm - just thinking. The original reverb tank with insulated input worked OK, it was just that one of the spring connections that was broken. The new long tank with insulated input hardly works at all. Now I wonder if it is an ground issue.
