...and she ended up insisting that we buy a beautiful transparent red Peavey JF-1 EX that was on sale for $239.99. We tried it thru a Cube 30X, ver' nice! Now she wants me to put her Crate acoustic amp up for sale so we can get a Cube 60. She's been playing the Peavey for the past couple hours; she's hardly played any guitar for the past year.

What a great day!

Yep, that's it. F holes are real, for sure (to the poster who asked). I may be in the honeymoon stage, but right now I'm liking it better than my LP copy. Funny - when I was younger I loved Strats and LPs. Now it's my Tele and a 335 copy. Whoda thunk it?

We were both surprised when we saw it and snatched it up right away. I need to scrap the original strings and put on a set of Snake Oils, but other than that it's ready to roll.

I'd really like it if my wife went gear shopping with me more often :dude

It was on sale at AB Stephens in Huntsville, AL. I also bought an Epi Triggerman amp from them for $225 last year (sells everywhere else for $270).

They sound pretty good. At some point I'll probably swap out something better, but for right now I have no complaints. My LP copy is gonna be gathering some dust for a while...

After my wife gave me an incredible sounding and playing 57 Martin 0018 for my birthday (she had a friend pick it out) I'm all for her visiting music stores :dude

Another great suggestion is to take your significant other into your local guitar center and tell the sales guy you're gonna put a guitar on her credit card. I watched a sales guy almost go hang himself in the backroom as my wife kept marching the poor guy back and forth to the manager for approval to keep knocking off another couple hundred bucks for every miniscule scratch or imperfection that only her eyes could keep finding. I just kept rolling my eyes and played dumb telling him "well... it is her credit card". I think she saved me $700 bucks on what I would have paid on a PRS.

Of course, don't let them pick one out for you. When she went to pick up that 57 Martin at Norms Guitars, she took one look at it and said "this beat up piece of shit is 4K???" They just laughed and told her they'd gladly sell her a shiny new one for that, but that I'd definitely like this one a lot better. I'm glad she listened because it's one of the most incredible recording acoustics I've ever heard. Much better than the pink "hello kitty" guitar she would have picked out.
