Looking suggestions to replacing the worn-out stock Fender in my Super Champ. Both Ceramic and Alnico suggestions welcomed!

Play rock and blues with it around the house...

I have a (probably reconed) 1970 Jensen C10N in mine, having tried the stock speaker, a Celestion Vintage 10, and heard the factory-optional EV and tried a Celestion G10L-35 in a couple of different SCs.

The Jensen is by far the best - the clearest, sweetest, deepest and nearly the loudest (the EV takes that I think). Unfortunately I can't comment on a RI Jensen, but I'd try one as a first option if anything ever happened to this one.

on any c10n... I like the EV and the EV force on a budget. I would imagine any of the new EMI's would be killer also..copper head, rajun cajun and the "lil buddies" that are hemp cones...

I used an EV as supplied in mine for years, then installed a Celestion G10, which is darker / woodier, but I prefer that now. EVM10 L is now for sale?

If you can find one, a Reverend all-tone.

After much research I went with the new Eminence Lil' Buddy (approx. $50) and am very happy with the results. Until I installed this speaker I was considering modifying the Lead channel to make it more useable. But what I discovered was by using a 'darker' hempcone speaker it enabled me to turn up the treble control which has a remarkable interaction with the gain structure of this amp. The result was creamy harmonic lead tones to die for. It also did wonders for the clean channel by tightening up the bass and thickening up single high notes. IMO the perfect 10" speaker for unlocking the powers of the Super Champ.
Best of luck, Bender

I'm tracking the whole Rivera-era fender range for dates and quantities. If I haven't already got all your Super Champ serial numbers, do let me know and I'll give you a fairly accurate date for the amp in return.

all the best

I've got an Eminence Ragin' Cajun in mine that I like a lot. That said, the Eminence Lil' Buddy wasn't available when I got mine and when someone posted the whole line of Eminence speakers with sound/video clips, I liked the way the Buddy sounded on those even better than the Cajun. Now those were NOT in a Super Champ, but still the Buddy sounded good. The Cajun does sound really good and is pretty loud.

I listened to the same Eminence sample clips through my Shure in-ears before deciding on the Lil' Buddy. Big thanks to whoever posted that.
