So if I were to use the ext speaker output on my amp (tremolux) with a 4ohm speaker cab in the regular speaker jack, would I use a 4ohm speaker in the ext out too? The head is rated at 4ohm.

Pardon my confusion, but are you talking about running a 4 ohm extension speaker along with the stock 4 ohm speaker - two 4 ohm speakers?

The amp output is 4ohm. I am asking if I could run a 4ohm speaker out on the regular output, and also running a 4ohm speaker out on the ext out. Wondering if it would mismatch or work.

Most amp extension speaker outputs are paralled with the main. Running two 4 ohm speakers will give you a 2 ohm load.................which might be safe with your amp, but is beyond my personal comfort level.
You start "dancing with the Devil" at 2 ohms - a hair's breadth away from a dead short.

That's how Fender intended them to be used. If you want to be real picky about it, you could find a couple 8 ohm cabs instead. If it's an early to mid-60's tremolux head, you might want to have a tech replace the power supply caps if they're original, and generally check it out. hth

Alright, I won't mess with different impedances since this is a really old amp and don't want to put any extra strain on it. Was just hoping I could plug 4ohm cabs depending on what I want (1 2x12 or 2 2x12's)
Thanks for the input.
